Draymond Green Out for Season Opener

Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green has officially been ruled out for the team’s season opener against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. His ailment is listed as an ankle sprain, apparently serious enough to keep him out of game action, although he has been practicing.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the news via Twitter on Monday.

Last year, before the season began, Green punched then-teammate Jordan Poole during practice, and was fined and spent days away from the team after apologizing for the incident, which was caught on tape and went viral.

Playing in 73 of 82 games last year, he averaged 31.5 minutes, 8.5 points, 6.8 assists and 7.2 rebounds. The Warriors, trying to defend their title, ended up losing to LeBron James and the Lakers in the 2023 postseason.
