Seoul Infernal Sign Mag, Skewed for 2023 Season

After several months of radio silence, the newly branded Seoul Infernal have found the remaining pieces of their 2023 roster. The Infernal started with a base of their two rookie DPS players from 2022, brought back in their rookie main support, and now complete the puzzle with two veterans looking to make their own mark. On Thursday March 2, the Seoul Infernal announced the signing of tank player Kim “Mag” Tae-sung to their 2023 roster. Just a day later the Infernal welcomed in flex-support Kim “Skewed” Min-seok to round out the starting roster.

Mag has been a bit of a mystery in the Overwatch League since joining in 2021. His rookie campaign was a mixed bag as results. The Justice finished that season with a middling 9-7 record, but still reached the Grand Finals bracket. They ultimately failed to advance through and were ousted without winning a match. Mag, flanked by off-tank Kim “Fury” Jun-ho, made a habit of making big plays in one moment and head-scratching plays the next. Mag was seen as an elite tank option leaving Contenders, though people would argue he has yet to reach his full potential.

Midway through a difficult 2022 season, Mag was traded to the Boston Uprising where he would have to split time with Leyton “Punk” Gilchrist. Mag played two games with the Uprising until he was benched for the remainder of the season in favor of the tenured Boston tank. Joining the Seoul Infernal gives Mag another shot to prove himself as a top tank in the league.

Rounding out the support line is former Gladiators stud Skewed. When Skewed was announced as the Gladiators newest flex-support, OWL fans were baffled. Skewed came from a relatively poor performing team in OZ Gaming and did not have much talk surrounding his individual ability outshining the rest of his teammates. Despite the uncertainty around him, the Gladiators trialed and found a diamond in the rough with Skewed. With excellent Brigitte and Zen play, Skewed helped the Gladiators claim three tournament titles in two years. The Seoul Infernal are surely hoping Skewed can continue his success under the brand new franchise banner.
