Far Cry 7 Will Allegedly be a Live Service Game Similar to Assassin’s Creed Infinity

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is just a little over a month old, but given how big the series is for Ubisoft, it shouldn’t surprise anyone to learn that plans for the next game already seem to be underway. Previous reports have indicated that Far Cry 7 might take a very different approach from its predecessors, and will be more online-focused.

A new report published by GamesBeat confirms that Far Cry series’ executive director Dan Hay has left Ubisoft after nearly 11 years at the company, and that his departure will be followed by big changes for the series. Ubisoft has also confirmed Hay’s departure, and that he’s been replaced by Sandra Warren in an interim capacity. Ubisoft’s statement reads:

“After more than 10 years at Ubisoft, Dan Hay has announced that he will be pursuing a new chapter in his professional life and he will be leaving on November 12. Dan has been the Executive Director of Far Cry and has developed an incredible multi-disciplined team to produce what has become one of the most popular games in Ubisoft’s history. While Dan has not announced where his path is taking him, we are confident that it will offer him the new challenges and experiences he seeks and deserves. We thank Dan for his many contributions over the years and wish him all the best for the future. In the interim, the brand team will be led by Sandra Warren in Montreal as well as a highly capable team of producers and directors, in addition to continuing its collaborations with a number of other studios around the world.”

GamesBeat’s report goes on to claim that Far Cry 7, or whatever it is that the next game in the series ends up being called, will adopt a live service model, similar to Assassin’s Creed Infinity. Whether or not it will be free-to-play remains to be seen- Ubisoft has been placing a significantly greater emphasis on free-to-play games of late, but it’s been confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be a paid, premium release.
