Final Fantasy 16 Timely Accessories Explained

Final Fantasy 16 Timely Accessories Explained

The Final Fantasy 16 Timely Accessories might be its smartest contribution to the Action-Game formula. Here you’ll find everything you need to know about them.

Having just launched a successful demo and a release just around the way, Final Fantasy 16 is well on its way to becoming the game to play in 2023.

Even if its new action combat is a stark departure from the series’ roots as a turn-based RPG. The series has always experimented with its gameplay, and most recent entries such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 15 have dabbled in the action game genre, but not to this degree.

To remedy this, Final Fantasy 16 introduced Timely Accessories which allow players to customize their experience according to their playstyle.

What are Final Fantasy 16 Timely Accessories?

Think of Timely Accessories as optional equipment that will either automate or simplify the gameplay of Final Fantasy 16. If you don’t want to bother with learning specific timings for dodges for example or want a little more headroom for those, there is an accessory for you.

While FF16 shifts to a combat system more reminiscent of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, it still wants everyone to be able to enjoy its story, no matter what skill level. The Timely Accessories will also be available on both difficulty modes, should you be struggling with a certain aspect of the game.

Should you pick the Story-Focused Difficulty mode, you can select which Timely Accessories you want to be in your loadout when starting a new game. For everyone who isn’t using them, you can alternatively slot in Accessories that boost certain Eikon abilities or stats.

What Timely Accessories are there?

Here is the list will all 5 Timely Accessories that will be available:

Ring of Timely Evasion

The Ring of Timely Evasion lets Clive dodge enemy attacks automatically. This means whenever you’re about to be hit by any attack, your character will evade on his own letting you focus on the fight ahead.

Ring of Timely Focus

Unlike the Ring of Timely Evasion, the Ring of Timely Focus will instead slow down the game and give you a button prompt to dodge incoming attacks. It turns evading into a kind of quick-time event essentially. The effect will however be overwritten by the Ring of Timely Evasion should you equip both.

This Timely Accessory will also be invaluable should you head to the Artete Stone in the Hideaway to practice the didge window for certain attacks.

Ring of Timely Strikes

The Ring of Timely Strikes on the other hand will automate the games combat. You only have to hold down a single attack button and the game will execute complex combos all on its own. You’ll only have to focus on moving around and or evading attacks should you not use the Ring of Timely Evasion or Focus.

Ring of Timely Assistance

Using the Ring of Timely Assistance will automate the commands you can give to Clive’s loyal hound Torgal who is normally controlled with the D-Pad. Using the Timely Accessory, Torgal will finish off your combos with an attack of his own, heal you, or set enemies up for an air combo.

Ring of Timely Healing

The Ring of Timely Healing will automate healing in Final Fantasy 16 which is also controlled via the D-Pad by default. Potions can be found while exploring and will be used up once your HP drops below a certain point. The game will also use up normal Potions before High Potions.
