Finest have secured their right to play in front of the Swedish crowd after defeating Imperial 2-0 in the Group B decider match at the Pinnacle Cup Championship 2022. The local squad took their revenge on the Brazilians following their defeat on the opening day of the event, taking home a comfortable win on Overpass (16-9) before securing the series on Vertigo (16-9)

The Swedish core will line up against Heroic in the first round of the playoff’s lower bracket on Friday at 16:00 .

On the other side, this marks Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and company’s second defeat of the day, meaning they are eliminated from the tournament counting only a single best-of-one victory and another defeat to Astralis.

kreaz and PlesseN topped the scoreboard on Vertigo

The series got started on Imperial‘s pick of Overpass and it was a back-and-forth affair. After the Brazilians’ early success following their victory in the opening pistol, the game quickly devolved into a chaotic exchange of rounds between the two squads. Finest tried their best to take control of the game but the offense’s TEC-9s made their life very difficult. Despite the instability, Niclas “PlesseN” Plessen and Guy “anarkez” Trachtman were good enough to power their squad to a 9-6 lead. The European squad then put their foot down after switching sides and after a short setback following a loss to the Imperial pistols on round 17, they comfortably closed their CT side with a 16-9 victory.

Finest carried their momentum into their T side of Vertigo, with the Swedish core taking the opening pistol and an early 5-1 lead. It took some time before the Brazilian defenders were able to find their footing on their opponents’ map pick but eventually, they managed to string five rounds on the bounce to take the lead thanks to some great moments from Fernando “fer” Alvarenga. Unfortunately for them, their time in the sun wouldn’t last long as Finest took the last few rounds to once again close the half 9-6 ahead.

Imperial showed signs of life after denying the chance the European squad the chance to convert the anti eco, but they would not get much more after that. Once Finest got comfortable on the CT side, they did not take their foot off the gas pedal and remained undefeated for the rest of the map, securing the series with a second 16-9.
