G2 Esports vs Gen.G Preview and Predictions – LoL Worlds 2023

G2 Esports vs Gen.G Preview tests the mettle of the 1st seed of the LEC, who clenched two hard victories to get here.

After 2 action packed days of the Worlds Main Event, the roster of teams has finally separated. 4 teams won both their matches, 4 were not able to win a single one, while 8 are currently sitting with a 1-1 record, and will try to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

G2 Esports have fought incredibly hard to get to the top of the Swiss Stage after the first 2 days, but now they will face their hardest foe so far.

G2 Esports vs Gen.G Preview

G2 Esports

G2 Esports have dominated the LEC in 2023: they won the Winter and Summer Splits, as well as the Season Finals, while making it the furthest out of all Western teams during the Mid-Season Invitational. Their creativity and tempo is unrivalled in their region, and they have surprised some teams that should’ve been stronger on paper.

G2 Esports played 2 incredibly hard games in the past days. First, they defeated Dplus KIA in a match that lasted more than 42 minutes, with fights going back and forth between the teams. Then against Weibo Gaming, they almost shoot themselves in the foot with a terrible Baron call, but managed to hold out until their comp scaled enough. They are 2-0, but they didn’t have the most stable performance.

Gen.G

Gen.G had a much more convincing performance than G2 Esports. They beat GAM Esports in less than 23 minutes, running circles around the only non-major region participant of the Main Stage. They had a harder time against T1, who controlled the early game in their bout on Friday, but after some nice catches, Gen.G managed to up the tempo and defeat their rivals in under 30 minutes.

Gen.G has been incredible in the Main Stage so far, but that’s to be expected of the team that won the Summer LCK Playoffs. They are one of the strongest contenders for this year’s title, and with each match, they show why.

G2 Esports vs Gen.G Predictions

G2 Esports had two of the hardest game of Worlds 2023 so far. Granted, they were against strong teams, both DK and WBG were the 4th seed of their region. G2 Esports is a great team, and they can pick some surprising champions, but Gen.G might be too big of a challenge for them. The 1# LCK team doesn’t really give openings to their enemies, and if they do, they bounce back hard, just as against T1.
