Heroic overcome Finest in PCC lower bracket final

The home team of Finest has been eliminated by Heroic at Pinnacle Cup Championship, with the Danes winning the series in three maps. They first won comfortably their map pick of Overpass 16-8, but then struggled on Vertigo, which they lost 16-7. The decider was Inferno, where the favorites dominated and won 16-4.

Heroic now move on to the Consolidation final, where they will be facing the loser of the upper bracket final game between BIG and Astralis.

On the other hand, Finest leave the event in fourth place with hopes that the encouraging performance will cement their place at the top of tier two competition, as they return to online play.

cadiaN’s troops are still in the running for the title

The series started off on Overpass, where Heroic started off strong, converting their pistol round win into a 3-0 lead. Finest fought back with a couple of saved guns in the next round, managing to get back within one round of their opponents, but they were unable to string many rounds together, as Heroic raced to a 9-3 lead. A late surge by Guy “anarkez” Trachtman and company made the scoreline 9-6 at the half, giving the underdogs a fighting chance.

It looked like Finest were destined to tie up the scores after winning the T pistol, but René “TeSeS” Madsen delivered in the force-buy with three kills, giving his team the upper hand once again. The Swedish majority squad was able to get just one more round in the half, which brought Heroic‘s economy to a breaking point, but a push through the B tunnel by the Danish CT side solidified their position and putting them on course to finish the map with a 16-8 win.

Next up was Vertigo, where Heroic started off the game with another pistol round win. This time, Finest wasted no time in striking back, going up 8-3 with an impressive streak. In the end, it was Kristjan “shokz” Jakobson‘s ace in the final round of the half that made the score 10-5.

The Danes won yet another pistol, getting the score to 10-7, but after that the T side looked to be out of ideas. Heroic attempted to disrupt the CT side with their trademark aggressive plays without any success, and Finest won every remaining round, ending up 16-7 winners and moving the series to Inferno.

shokz was the star performer in Finest’s map win

Once on Inferno, it was the favored Danes who decided to turn up the heat with their aggression. They lost the pistol round but immediately fought back in the next round, and bar Guy “anarkez” Trachtman‘s double Tec9 entry on the A site, Finest simply weren’t able to handle Heroic‘s playstile. The first half ended 13-2, with Finest looking dejected.

Closing out the game was a mere formality given the first half, and Heroic managed to do it as soon as their economy allowed it after losing the pistol, moving to the Consolidation final.
