Honkai Star Rail: How to turn on auto-battle

You’ll fight in a lot of battles as you advance through the Honkai: Star Rail campaign. Sometimes, your enemies will be weak enough that everything feels quite rote. You might wish you could just activate an auto-battle mode to speed things up a little. Fortunately, the game’s developers anticipated that need. Here is our guide on how to turn on auto-battle in Honkai: Star Rail.

Note: We’ll have a Honkai Star Rail guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned.

How to turn on auto-battle in Honkai: Star Rail

You won’t be able to activate auto-battle when you first start playing the game. Diving through the various menus will get you nowhere. That’s because the mode only becomes available once you advance far enough within the campaign.

To turn on auto-battle in Honkai: Star Rail, you must first clear the Simulated Universe: First Closed Beta mission. This is a Trailblaze mission. As the plot progresses, it will naturally lead you to the mission.

The Simulated Universe: First Closed Beta mission becomes available shortly after you finally meet Herta. That meeting happens just after the first big boss battle. You will talk to her a few times and then join her in her office, where she makes a portal available to the Simulated Universe. Inside that universe, you can toggle auto-battle on and off even in the middle of a battle. Your party members will burn through skills quickly, but this can also improve the pace of combat substantially.

Even after you gain access to auto-battle, you won’t be able to use it on every mission. As you complete a lot of Trailblaze and story missions, you’ll typically have to issue orders yourself. However, you can use auto-battle on simpler missions where you might be grinding for resources, which is a welcome convenience.

Honkai: Star Rail is available via its official website.
