Microsoft seems to be pretty serious about expanding the platforms that can host its Game Pass service. After launching on Xbox consoles, PC, and smartphones, now it’s time for Samsung smart TVs to become the new hosts for Microsoft’s gaming subscription service.
As of today, you can access the official Xbox App on your Samsung smart TV, which will allow you to stream games directly to your TV with no need for a console, PC, or mobile phone in between. However, it might be a little bit confusing to set up your new gaming platform without some help.
Game Pass Requirements on a Samsung Smart TV
First of all, this feature is only available in Samsung 2022 smart TVs. So, make sure you own a model that belongs to this year. Moreover, this feature is currently live in 27 countries, where Xbox Cloud Gaming is accessible. You can check out the full list of supported countries via this link.
How to Install the Xbox App
Now, in order to open up the Xbox App, there are two ways available for you. If your Samsung TV already has a Gaming Hub in the menu, open it, and then you can probably find the Xbox App.
In case you don’t have access to Gaming Hub, go to the Samsung App Store and search for the Xbox App to download and install it.
While you need an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription to play most games on the service, you can play Fortnite for free if you only want to try out the service on your TV.
Keep in mind that you can connect any controller to a Samsung 2022 smart TV using a Bluetooth connection. It doesn’t matter if it’s an Xbox controller or other third-party controllers. Even PlayStation 5’s DualSense can be used to play games through Xbox Game Pass on a Samsung 2022 smart TV.
