When you first start in Slime Rancher 2, there is no fast travel option. If you get knocked out you are immediately returned to base, but in doing so you lose all of your items. As such, you want to unlock the actual fast travel system as early as you can.

Thankfully, you can unlock fast travel quite early on in the game. Firstly, you’re going to need to upgrade your harvesting tool. You do this at the Fabricator. Behind the house in the Conservatory, there is a path leading down below. Follow that path to reach the Fabricator. Once you have upgraded your harvesting tool, interact with the computer near the main entrance to the conservatory.

Look for the ! on the screen throughout the game as this suggests there’s a new character to talk to, each unlocking new blueprints. The first character you speak with will give you a portal that you can place at specific locations around the world, called Gadget spots. Placing the portal in any location available will allow you to use the portal to instantly return to the Conservatory.
