How to mute people in Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite has exploded onto the scene, and bringing with it hundreds of thousands of fans back into the genre. With that many players across PC and Xbox, there’s a really big push to get into matches. That also means a lot of old-school fans are coming back. And if anyone remembers the Xbox Live days of Halo 2, that can be a bad thing due to toxicity. Some people just don’t know how to behave online.

If it’s not someone blasting bad music in the background, it’s someone being genuinely toxic to other players and saying horrible stuff. The push by Xbox to clamp down on this over the years still has a way to go, so muting problematic people is best. Voice chat might be an essential part of communication in FPSs and MMOs, but it can be a bad thing for the above reasons.

How to mute people in Halo Infinite

Here are the steps you want to use to mute someone in-game. The process is usually best done in the pre-game lobby, as it’s too distracting during an actual match. To do this, simply hover over the user you wish to mute in the lobby and select their name to bring up their profile. There will be a Mute option to place them on your muted list. This will prevent you from hearing them at all. You can see a user is talking if the microphone icon is lit up next to their tag.

If you want to do it in-game, here’s how. Press Tab or Select, depending on your platform, to bring up the scoreboard in a match. Hover over the name of the user you want to mute. Select their name to bring up their profile, then choose Mute from the options.

You can also turn off Voice Chat entirely. Go to the Control Panel from the main menu, then choose Settings. Select Audio then turn off Match Chat and Fireteam & Lobby Chat options by unchecking them. Muting a player is permanent, until your revoke it via the menus. If you turn off voice chat, be sure to toggle it back on.

You might also have some other questions about the game. If you have gameplay questions, you might be new to CTF. That means it’s a good idea to learn the controls, like how to drop the flag. There’s some free cosmetic 20th anniversary content you can claim. You can also customize your Spartan in many ways, so try that out. If you’re the kind of person who only wants to play with console or PC players, you can also get around the crossplay.
