Inter Milan will be looking to keep up the pace with Serie A leaders when they welcome Udinese to San Siro on Sunday for the next league fixture with kickoff at 14:30.
It has not been the best start for the Scudetto defenders who have been forced to play catch-up to league leaders AC Milan and Napoli who sit seven points ahead of the champions who will be keen to build on their form and keep the momentum going as they look to close the gap that widened following the 3-1 defeat to Lazio and the 1-1 draw with Juventus.
However, Inter Milan got back to winning ways in their midweek Serie A fixture with a 2-0 win against Empoli, with Italian full-backs Danilo D’Ambrosio and Federico Dimarco earning them a crucial victory that saw the Nerazzurri maintain their third position in the standings.
Simone Inzaghi’s side will be confident going into the Sunday’s clash as they currently are on unbeaten home run that stretches back to last season and they face an erratic Udinese side that they have beaten in three of their last four matches and their last meeting at San Siro ended in a 5-1 victory for the hosts.
Udinese made an impressive start to their Serie A campaign winning two of their opening three matches but things haven’t been the same in the recent weeks and the memories of their bright start are now fading away as the Udine side has now gone seven matches without a win the league. As a result to their poor run Udinese have now dropped to the bottom half sitting just four points clear of the relegation zone in the 15th on 11 points.
Udinese head into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona in their midweek fixture. Luca Gotti’s side failed to capitalize on Isaac Success’ early goal, conceding the equalizer with just six minutes remaining on the clock. The draw was another show of their struggling defence having just managed one clean sheet in their last 10 league matches and thus, will have their work cut out for them as they face a side that has scored more goals in the league this season.
