Estudiantes make a trip to the Estadio Jose Dellagiovanna to take on Tigre on Monday in the round eight of the Argentine Primera Division campaign.
The visitors head into the contst off the back of crashing out of the Copa Argentina courtesy of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Belgrano and will look to get back to winning ways.
Tigre failed to pick themselves up in the early stages of the 2022-23 Primera Division campaign as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Argentinos Juniors on Tuesday.
In an intense matchup where both sides finished with 10 men, Gaston Verona dn Javier Cabrera scored in an 11-minute duration to put Argentinos ahead before Mateo Retegui pulled one back from the spot in the 34th minute.
El Matador have now failed to taste victory in any of their last six matches, claiming three draws and losing three matches since a 2-1 win at Union in this season’s curtain-raiser on June 5.
This poor run has been due to their struggles on the defensive end, where they are yet to keep a clean sheet and have shipped 12 goals so far.
Meanwhile, Estudiantes suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat against second-tier Belgrano, which saw them exit the round of 32 of the Copa Argentina.
Joaquin Susvielled scored the decisive goal for the Primera Nacional side as he was on target from 12 yards shortly after the hour mark.
With their cup dreams now cut short, Estudiantes now turn their focus to the Primera Division, where they are currently on a four-game winless run, picking up a point from a possible 12 since June’s 2-1 victory over Sarmiento.
Estudiantes now have pciked up eight points from seven matches and sit 19th in the league standings, but could climb to 12th place with a victory on Monday.
