Jeondding Joins New Esports Team CNJ

Sang-hyun “Jeondding” Jeon has found a new team and joins CNJ, quickly after he departed from UYU. Just five days after his announcement, Jeonnding appears in a video by CNJ. An interview, and an announcement video regarding him joining the team.

The video, in Korean features Jeondding primarily focused on his future with CNJ and his efforts in competing. In the end, Jeonnding proudly states “I will be EVO champion.” said in English.

This announcement made on Jul. 20, just a couple of weeks the start of EVO 2022. Jeonnding has already announced before his announcement with CNJ that he will be competing in the tournament.

Fans, friends, and fellow players like Jae-Min “Knee” Bae congratulate Jeonnding on joining a new team.

Who is CNJ

CNJ, being primarily focused in Korea, has a smaller presence in the west. Still relatively new, the team before Jeonnding was competing in Valorent and Teamfight Tactics(TFT). Picking up Joennding is quite an acquisition for them, being one of the best Tekken 7 players, it’ll likely bring more eyes to the team.

CNJ still has a list of Korean sponsors, most notably the South Korean soccer team Daejeon Hanacititzen.

Jeonnding’s Career

Jeondding is quite famous for his performance since 2017, winning major tournaments such as CEO 2018 or placing high in EVO and Combo Breaker. He’s also known to have Eddy as his Tekken 7 main and winning despite Eddy being considered one, if not the worst character in the game.

Other fan-favorite moments in his career thus far include his matches against Ricky “Pokchop” Walker Jr. at Summer Jam 12. Where Jeondding proves he was able to keep up with Pokchop’s antics. Pokchop is notorious to distract his opponents, and creating humor and hype. Other moments include his sets against Knee Combo Breaker 2018, and Terrelle “Lil Majin” Jackson at EVO 2018.

Jeonnding has also dabbled in Street Fighter V, playing at EVO 2018, 2019, CEO 2019, and Dreamhack Atlanta 2019. Performing well enough to place in the top 200 at EVO and top 100 at CEO, and top 4 at Dreamhack. It’s possible Jeondding might compete at Street Fighter V at EVO 2022, or he may try to focus on Tekken 7.

Jeonnding still plays Eddy, and Lucky Chloe, but has picked up Julia at recent events such as the Tekken Online CHallenge: Korea and EVO 2021 Online.

EVO 2022 starts on Aug. 5-7 and will be one of the first international tournaments Jeondding will attend since the start of the pandemic.
