Jonathan Gannon Hired as Cardinals Head Coach

Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon has a new gig. After firing Kliff Kingsbury after the season, the Arizona Cardinals embarked on a mission to find their next head coach. They landed on Gannon, who just coached the Eagles’ defense all the way to Super Bowl 57.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.

Gannon began his coaching career at the University of Louisville, holding two jobs there until he transitioned into the NFL. He held multiple jobs with the Falcons, Vikings, Titans and Colts before joining the Eagles in 2021 as the defensive coordinator.

Philadelphia had an historic year defensively, as four different players recorded a season with 10 or more sacks. They breezed through the playoffs before falling in Super Bowl 57, partially thanks to a questionable holding call in the last two minutes of the game. He replaces Kingsbury next season.
