Golden Guardians vs TSM

The draft of this game wasn’t done live, but we saw the order of pick/bans on the broadcast.

The day started out slow with a sixth-minute drake but the first action was near the tenth minute. We saw GG getting first blood in the bot lane while TSM went for a top gank. However, a good counter from Pridestalkr meant they traded a kill back and got the Herald. We saw TSM going back top again, but they couldn’t find much success, and pressure from rest of the map meant GG had 2.5k gold lead at around 16 minutes. TSM wasn’t coordinated in mid-game and GG were confident in their lead enough to try a 24-minute Baron without a pick. It was successful and they even got a kill. When the buff ended at around minute 28 the gold lead was at 6k fo GG. We then saw two more big team fights, one at Baron and one at Ocean Soul. Unfortunately for TSM, the gold lead was too big and they couldn’t manage to win any one of them. With their advantage, GG pushed for their victory.

  • Teams: GG – TSM
  • Time: 34:31
  • Kills: 14 – 5
  • Turrets: 9 – 3
  • Gold: 69.9k – 55.4k
  • Dragons: 4 – 2
  • Barons: 2 – 0

Team Liquid vs FlyQuest

lcsweek2tlflydraft

The game started with a fight for the first scuttle and FLY found two early kills down bottom. TL tried to answer with a 6th-minute top dive, but Philip managed to trade 1-for-1. With FLY getting more kills and also stealing the first Herald, they had a 1k gold lead in the first 10 minutes. They also used the kills they got to get the first two drakes. FLY had the opportunity to fight for their soul point around 20th minutes but they chose not to despite their 3k lead. Still, TL bot lane got caught in their own jungle and gave FLY the fight who won it 3-for-0 but they couldn’t get Baron due to low health. FLY’s 4.5k gold lead at this point is enough to scare TL from contesting the next Ocean Soul point.

FLY got a pick on Hans at 30 minutes and went to Baron, but TL double TP’d in to contest. Liquid got four kills which gave them the Baron and used it to turn the momentum, securing their gold lead for 2.5k. A minute in a half before the next soul fight, TL found a pick down in the bottom lane and got the inhibitor. With the lead at 5k, TL was confident enough to push for the end, winning the game to bounce back from yesterday’s defeat.

  • Teams: TL – FLY
  • Time: 36:10
  • Kills: 15 – 13
  • Turrets: 8 – 4
  • Gold: 67.9k – 61.7k
  • Dragons: 2 – 3
  • Barons: 1 – 0

Cloud9 vs 100 Thieves

The third game of the day was a slow one. There was some trading in lane but no ganks or early kills. The biggest action was a 6-minute drake from C9. Closer tried to gank mid a couple of times but he was unsuccessful. C9 took advantage by also getting the first Herald and the first blood at the top lane for a 1k gold lead. 100T tried to recover as Ssumday got a solo kill back and they got a drake back, but Herald meant first turret gold extended C9 lead to 2k at 13 minutes. There was a drake fight at 22 minutes even though neither team was at soul point, and after a great engage by Blaber C9 tied the drakes at 2-2.

At 25 minutes, 100T went for an engage, but C9 turned it around and took the Baron after acing them. When the buff ended C9 was on Cloud Soul point and had a 9.5k gold lead. C9 then found 2 more picks at the top lane and got the inhibitor, just as we went into a technical pause with a 12.5k gold lead. The game didn’t last long after the break as C9 found four kills in a jungle skirmish and ended the match.

  • Teams: C9 – 100T
  • Time: 32:59
  • Kills: 14 – 3
  • Turrets: 10 – 3
  • Gold: 66.9k – 51.9k
  • Dragons: 3 – 2
  • Barons: 1 – 0

Evil Geniuses vs Counter Logic Gaming

lcsweek2clgegdraft

The game started out with a CLG invade and a first-minute 5v5 fight. Six total flashes were blown and Palafox got the first blood. Early mid-pressure from the first kill leads to an early drake and the first Herald for CLG, but there wasn’t much other action and the gold was even. There was a skirmish for the second drake, but Corki had Package and EG secured the objective and got their first kill. We saw some objective trades after the plates fell down, but they are mostly CLG favored with them getting up to a 1k lead while we near the Baron spawn. Eg decided to fight just after Baron did spawn but it didn’t go well. They lost four kills, the Baron and gave soul point to CLG who had a 5k lead at 25 minutes.

There were some skirmishes and back and forth and a teleport disadvantage meant EG couldn’t contest the Cloud Soul. But they got a kill on a splitting Dhokla and went for the Baron, and secured it after a 2-for-2 kills trade. Teams fought for the Elder at the 35th minute but EG’s comp was scaled and they got the drake and then their second Baron, this meant they were on a near 4k lead. Baron push was very close as EG got all the nexus turrets but couldn’t end but they also lost one nexus turret to CLG minions. The game was decided with the second Elder, EG getting just before it and having to concede it. CLG managed to close out the game with the strong buff and made sure there were no undefeated teams left in the league.

  • Teams: EG – CLG
  • Time: 42:23
  • Kills: 16 – 21
  • Turrets: 8 – 10
  • Gold: 81.3k – 81.9k
  • Dragons: 2 – 5
  • Barons: 2 – 1

Immortals vs Dignitas

lcsweek2imtdigdraft

The last game of the week was a slow one. None of the lanes had too much trading except some ganks around mid lane but no early kills. The biggest advantage came from Dig taking the first Herald uncontested and they had a 500 gold lead at 10 minutes. Just after that, we saw the fight for the first drake, which went by the way of Dig along with the first blood to extend their lead to 2k. Dig also got both the second drake and the Herald as Immortals played too passively, even for a scaling comp. As Dig took their third turret at 20th minute, to IMT’s zero, they were 4k gold in the lead. IMT finally showed up to fight the third drake and even manage to secure it. However, Dig had an excellent engage and aced their opponent, taking the Baron and the gold difference was suddenly nearing 10k.

The was over from this point on as the gold lead was too big even for IMT’s scaling comp. They couldn’t find anything on the map and gave away another Baron. Dig pushed to end with this Baron to give Biofrost his 200th LCS win. IMT almost got perfect gamed once again, except their one single drake.

  • Teams: IMT – DIG
  • Time: 30:48
  • Kills: 0 – 11
  • Turrets: 0 – 10
  • Gold: 45k – 61.9k
  • Dragons: 1 – 3
  • Barons: 0 – 2
