LEC Summer 2022 Playoffs – Predictions and Analysis

After a break, LEC competition returns with the playoffs. The top 6 regular season finishers will battle it out for the LEC Summer 2022 championship and a spot at Worlds 2022. First week matches will include two Upper-Bracket matches and one Lower-Bracket match. Here are the schedule and predictions.

Rogue vs MAD Lions

The level of the opening match of the LEC Summer 2022 Playoffs equals to a Grand Final. MAD Lions, who finished the regular season with 12 wins, and Rogue, who finished the season third, one win behind their opponent, will try to knock each other off on their way to the championship.

It’s safe to say that both teams have a good chance of winning the series. Throughout the season, both MAD Lions and Rogue have struggled at times. However, they got the wins they needed with their streaks. MAD Lions were the side that entered the end of the season in better form.

Armut and friends are much more effective in the early game than their rivals Rogue. The team, which does not have any difficulty in getting a win if they start the game fast, has a hard time reflecting their superiority to the number of turrets. On the other hand, Rogue’s early game control is weaker than their opponent. They prefer to strengthen in the late game and finish the game.

With this being the case, it’s safe to say that MAD will reach the first 5 kills faster.

G2 Esports vs Misfits Gaming

After seeing the highs and lows of the season, G2 Esports made a spectacular run in the last few weeks to finish the regular season first and make it to the playoffs. The champion of the Spring season had a great start to the Summer as well. They showed that they were one step ahead of the other teams in the league with the games they played and the wins they got. However, after a mid-season breakdown, they started to lose almost all their games and were suddenly out of the playoff race. Fortunately, they managed to bounce back before it was too late and took first place in the league.

Misfits, on the other hand, had a disastrous start to LEC Summer 2022 after a successful last season. Losing their first 4 games, the team had fallen all the way to last place in the league before 5 consecutive wins put them back in the race. The roster then found their rhythm and finished the season with 10 wins and 8 losses.

G2 Esports are among the favorites for the championship and will start the playoffs with a win.

Fnatic vs Excel

Predictions: Fnatic to win

Odds: 1.71

When: August 28, 2022 – 17:00 CEST

Unlike this week’s other series, Fnatic and Excel will meet in the Lower-Bracket, with the defeated team’s playoff journey ending from the very first match. European giants Fnatic have fallen short of expectations after a good LEC Spring 2022, which saw them build a new roster. With a total of 10 wins, the team struggled to take control of the early game. In fact, despite winning 72.7% of the games they led in the first 15 minutes, they lost 8 games throughout the season.

Excel, on the other hand, started the league by winning 4 of their first 5 matches. After a good run until the mid-league break, the team started to stumble after the break and suffered losses they shouldn’t have. Their completely reversed form put them in a tough spot in the playoff race and even forced them into a tiebreaker with Team Vitality. Fortunately, they defeated their opponents and put themselves in the playoffs.

The playstyles of Fnatic and Excel are very similar, but Fnatic players are more used to playing on this level.
