New York Jets 2023 NFL Draft Profile

New York Jets 2023 NFL Draft Profile

The 2023 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 27 as the first round picks are announced. The second and third rounds take place on Friday, and the whole thing wraps up with the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday. TGH will be taking a quick look at the first few picks for some teams, and shedding some light on what direction they will go. Here is the New York Jets NFL Draft profile for 2023.

**Note: At time of writing, Aaron Rodgers has not yet been traded to the Jets. If/when he is traded, look for an updated draft profile on our site**

Team Needs

The Jets need a better offensive line if they’re going to protect an aging and less mobile Aaron Rodgers. Starters and/or depth needs to be added through the draft to really make that championship dream a reality. Linebackers, safeties and maybe even an extra weapon for Rodgers (if Corey Davis is dealt) wouldn’t be bad choices, either.

First Round

Pick #13: Paris Johnson, Jr., OT, Ohio State

Even though he hasn’t spent much time playing as a tackle, Paris Johnson, Jr. is a bit of a can’t-miss for the Jets. If he excels at left tackle, then play him there. If he’s good but not great at being an NFL tackle, then give him some reps at guard.

His ceiling is higher than most other offensive linemen in the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s big, but athletic, and he’s an exceptional run blocker. Again, he may need some time to develop in the NFL as a left tackle, but he can serve elsewhere if needed.

Second Round

Pick #42: Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee

While he was a bit of a one-year standout in college, Jalin Hyatt has a DeVonta Smith-level ceiling as an NFL prospect. Maybe that comparison is just being made because both receivers are on the skinnier side, but look at what Smith helped do for the Eagles.

Now, Hyatt’s draft position fluctuates wildly from mock draft to mock draft, but if he’s there at 42, why wouldn’t the Jets throw their hands up and go for it all after getting Aaron Rodgers? He can grab the bombs from Rodgers that will no doubt be pinpoint accurate, and be a true home run hitter for the Jets next season.
