NFL News: Must-Bet Games – Week 5 of the 2022 Season

Week 5 used to be the first bye week in the NFL schedule, but that changed in 2021, when the league went to a 17-game, 18-week regular season. This means that Week 5 will have 16 games. By the time we get this far into the season, we will know more about whether Trey Lance and Justin Fields are ready to be franchise quarterbacks, whether the Chargers have added enough talent around Justin Herbert, and if the Chiefs are hungry enough to reassert themselves in the AFC West. We have some sports betting matchups that you should consider from Week 5 – but remember that the farther away you go into the future, the more risk you take on as far as potential injuries are concerned.

Indianapolis Colts (+3) at Denver Broncos
Indianapolis +135 / Denver -155

The Colts have the better defense and the better running game. The Broncos, at least potentially, have the better quarterback with Russell Wilson in town, while the Colts have Matt Ryan from Atlanta. By this time, both quarterbacks should have meshed with the offensive systems that they joined, but I see the Colts seizing the rhythm of the game. In a game that is essentially a toss-up, I’m going with the value. Colts to win straight up and cover the line.

Tennessee Titans (PK) at Washington Commanders
Tennessee -110 / Washington -110

Carson Wentz against Ryan Tannehill? Derrick Henry? I’m not sure what the oddsmakers were thinking with this line, so I would jump on Tennessee as soon as you can. Henry is projected to be back at full strength (although his playoff performance against Cincinnati was not particularly dominant), which means that the Titans should be able to grind to the win. Titans to win.

Philadelphia Eagles (+2) at Arizona Cardinals
Philadelphia +110 / Arizona -130

Both of these teams made the wild card round last season, but the Eagles did more to help themselves in the off-season, snagging wide receiver A.J. Brown via trade from Tennessee. Arizona still won’t have DeAndre Hopkins in Week 5, and Jalen Hurts finished 2021 much more effectively than Kyler Murray did. I like the upset pick here. Cardinals to win straight up and cover the line.

Seattle Seahawks (+6) at New Orleans Saints
Seattle +190 / New Orleans -235

Jameis Winston and Michael Thomas are primed to lead the Saints offense to the playoffs, while Seattle looks to be at the start of a long rebuild, with Drew Lock as the starting quarterback. The Seahawks have done well on the road under Pete Carroll, but there’s just not enough in the talent pool this season to expect much out of the Seahawks. Saints to win straight up and cover the line.

Dallas Cowboys (+4.5) at L.A. Rams
Dallas +160 / Los Angeles -190

After several key losses in free agency, the Dallas defense will be even less equipped to stop a high-octane offense like the Rams’ than it was last year. On offense, the Cowboys lost Amari Cooper, sending him to Cleveland for basically nothing in return. The Rams kept their Super Bowl title core intact, by contrast, and should get a big home win. Rams to win straight up and cover the line.

Las Vegas Raiders (+6) at Kansas City Chiefs
Las Vegas +195 / Kansas City -240

Las Vegas has had success at Arrowhead Stadium the past few seasons, and the Chiefs are entering the post-Tyreek Hill era. They did snag Marques Valdes-Scantling from Green Bay as a deep speed threat, but there are also questions about the Chiefs’ defense. I think Patrick Mahomes can lead a late comeback, but I also think the Raiders keep this close. Raiders to cover.
