The 2022-23 NHL season is underway and teams want to get off to good start to ignite their season. There is a full slate of games for October 17 with the Florida Panthers versus Boston Bruins highlighting the play.

Florida Panthers versus Boston Bruins

The Bruins took two of the three meetings between the teams last season. They are “average up” versus “ice cold up” on the Team Strength Oscillator and have a +8 to +4 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Florida comes in as a road favorite with odds of 1.83 to 2.13. The Score Predictor likes Boston at home by a 4-2 score with 59 percent confidence. The Bruins have been involved in games over the line in their last two, and I expect another higher scoring game here. Go with Boston at home in a game “over” the line.

Pittsburgh Penguins versus Montreal Canadiens

In this classic battle, the Penguins head to Montreal to face the Canadiens. Pittsburgh won two of the three meetings between the teams last season and are “burning hot” versus “dead up” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Pittsburgh also has a +9 to +5 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. The odds are heavily in favor of the Penguins at 1.436 to 3.310 and the Score Predictor likes them by a 4-3 margin with 54 percent confidence. Montreal has been involved in games over and under evenly over the last two and Pittsburgh has been in high scoring games. I like the Penguins but pass on the “over/under” bet.

Colorado Avalanche versus Minnesota Wild

Out in the Western Conference, the Avalanche battle the Wild. The teams have split the meetings over the past season.. Minnesota comes in “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +26 on the Power Ranking Indicator, while the Avalanche are “average down” and +21, respectively. The odds are even at 1.97 each and the Score Predictor sees this as a tight one by a score of 3-2 in favor of Minnesota with 65 percent confidence. Both teams have been involved in games over the line in the last two. I like the Wild at home by a goal, perhaps needing overtime.

Carolina Hurricanes versus Seattle Kraken
