Overwatch 2 – How To Win Every Game with Tracer

Want to win every game with Tracer? Our handy Overwatch 2 hero guide will help show you how.

The changes that Overwatch 2 brought made the game a lot more interesting. Following the first couple of days, where every hero seemed overpowered, Blizzard released a couple of changes. In fact, we even saw the mid-season patch that nerfed some of our favorite heroes.

Even though tanks like Hog, Winston, and D.Va dominate the current meta, there are a couple of DPS that also deserve some attention. It may come as a surprise, but Tracer is one of them. This is one of the most underrated heroes in Overwatch 2, but players who know how to use the hero can easily carry themselves and their team in competitive play.

We won’t go into detail about the hero and her abilities. Instead, this guide will focus on a few tips and tricks you can use to win your games with Tracer. Be sure to read until the end because you will find an answer to some of the most common questions.

If you know what you’re doing, you won’t die

Every Overwatch 2 player knows that Tracer is not the tankiest hero in the game. In fact, she is the most fragile one because she only has 150 HP. This means that the hero can die to pretty much anyone.

Fortunately, Blizzard decided to equip her with unique abilities that make her only impossible to kill. That said, only players who know how to use them properly can take advantage of Tracer’s capabilities. Even though this will take time, learning how to survive with this hero will have a massive impact on your success because you will be a constant threat.

The only way to learn how to utilize this hero’s abilities is to play as much as possible. Most of you probably know that you should not use all of your abilities to land a kill because you won’t be able to escape afterward. There are many other smaller things to be aware of, such as when to attack, when to be defensive, and more.

Once you learn how to stay alive, you will be able to land a lot of kills on enemies that have low HP. Since you are incredibly mobile and can run away when needed, you can be super aggressive and run to safety after that.

Try to force 1v1s

Overwatch 2 has many unique heroes, and each one is good at something. Most of them could be better when it comes down to 1v1s, but heroes like Tracer stand out. In fact, this is the best hero in a 1v1 fight. Needless to say, you have to take advantage of it and try to force your enemies to fight you.

People who can use Tracer’s abilities to their full potential can easily kite and kill any hero, including tanks. Although dealing with things like Roadhog is not as easy as it seems, a good Tracer player will easily dodge the hook and eventually do enough damage to kill the hero.

That said, there are a couple of Overwatch 2 DPS that are also good in a 1v1, such as Cassidy. Following the changes, you have to be careful because the grenade can kill you in seconds.

Speaking of 1v1s and playing Tracer in general, you need to learn how to manage your cooldowns. Wasting everything just to reach a given target is never a good idea because you become vulnerable. Sure, you can use your Recall and escape, but you will most likely be relocated to a position where you won’t be able to finish your targets and won’t have any more blinks to catch them.

Keep in mind that you will shine more if you do NOT start the fight

Due to her amazing mobility, Tracer is often the first hero that starts a given fight. Players use their blinks to reach their targets before the rest of their team and think that this helps them be more successful. However, this is not the case.

Most Overwatch 2 players are aware of the potential problems caused by Tracer. Hence, they will almost always focus on her and try to land a kill as soon as possible. Unsurprisingly, landing a kill on Tracer is much easier when she is the only attacking hero.

What we’re trying to say is that it is better not to engage first and wait until someone from your team starts the fight. This will allow you to position yourself better, and the enemies won’t focus on you that much. Having to deal with 2 or even more heroes that only focus on you is not good, especially for Tracer because the hero has low HP.

Only take fights when you are close to your targets

Everyone knows that Tracer is a hero who must be close to her targets to be successful. Despite that, many people think that they will do something by staying in the open and shooting against targets that are good in the mid and long-range. Needless to say, this can’t be further from the truth because doing trash damage won’t help you in any way.

As mentioned, Tracer is an amazing hero and can help you kill almost anyone, but she is not immortal and can die with a headshot from all sorts of heroes. This includes things like Widowmaker, Hanzo, Sojourn, McCree, and more. So, the only way to minimize the risk is if you are very close to your target. Besides the fact that they will have problems landing headshots, you can also do much more damage.

Final Thoughts

Tracer is undoubtedly one of the best heroes in Overwatch 2 right now. The hero can easily carry her team and allow you to reach your desired rank. However, she is really hard to master, so you have to spend some time learning how to use her abilities.

Besides everything mentioned so far, Tracer also requires you to learn how to use the Pulse Bomb, as well as her melee attacks that can often hit multiple units. This takes time, but it is worth it if you want to play the ultimate DPS hero in the mid-season of Overwatch 2.
