Three more teams were sent packing after losing their matches in Round 5
Day 4 of PGL Major Stockholm is over, and some expected results and unexpected results have been revealed. The winners from this round are all through the next stage – the New Legends. Unfortunately, three teams have been sent packing as they lost their matches in the Challengers stage.
Round 5 Recap
Movistar RidersHeroic was,well, heroic during the match, and so was Movistar Riders. The latter team tried their best to keep themselves in the competition, but the former was too strong as a competitor. In the first round, Heroic dominated both halves of the match and did not give Movistar any chance to rack up significant points before ending the match in round 23.
In the second round, Movistar Rider did push back and managed to gain back points after the first half where Heroic was dominating, but Heroic managed to grab the winning point with ease in the end.
Heroic won 2-0.
BIG
MOUZBIG showed that they were serious about staying in Major Stockholm. They managed to win the first round even when MOUZ was dominating the first half, but MOUZ was too good, as they won the next two rounds, forcing BIG to concede the defeat and the Major to the German team.
MOUZ won 2-1.
Team Spirit
AstralisThis was the match that everyone was looking out for. The reigning champion is truly awakened, and Team Spirit can’t contain them. Spirit did win a few of the early rounds, but Astralis showed that they are the stronger team by winning the first half, and subsequently the second half of the map.
The play was almost a carbon copy in Map 2, where Astralis also dictated the whole game. Team Spirit did give more of a challenge, but it was not enough for the lads in Astralis as they strolled in and won the match.
Astralis won 2-0.
With the wins, Heroic, BIG and Astralis will now play in the New Legends stage. Unfortunately, it is the end of the road for Movistar Riders, BIG and Team Spirit at Major Stockholm.
