Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Schedule and Predictions: Part 2

This is part two of looking at the Philadelphia Eagles’ schedule and predicting their win-loss total for the 2022 NFL season. We will be covering Weeks 4-7 in this edition. Part one saw the Eagles starting the first three weeks of the season with a predicted record of 2-1 with wins against the Lions and the Washington Commanders and a primetime loss to the Vikings.

Week 4 vs Jaguars, 10/2, CBS, 1 PM

This is a winnable home game for the Eagles before a tough three-game stretch. The Jags were horrendous in 2021. They had a bad team combined with a head coach in Urban Myer who did not live up to NFL coaching expectations. Furthermore, to make things worse, he did not set a good example for his team when he made some bad decisions during a night out. Meyer got fired towards the end of the season leaving the Jaguars in shambles with a 2-11. The Jags would finish the season with a record of 3-14. It is not likely that the Jaguars will be any better in 2022. They did however have a good 2022 draft class which includes Aidan Hutchinson.

The Eagles will need to limit turnovers on offense and not shoot themselves in the foot. They also have all the defensive components to hold Trevor Lawrence and the Jags’ offense at bay. Philadelphia should win this game by a rather large margin and go into Arizona with some momentum.

Eagles win: 34-14

Week 5 at Cardinals, 10/9, FOX, 4:25 PM

Philadelphia will make their way to the desert where they will face a tough Cardinals team. They went 11-6 in 2021 and finished second in a tough NFC West division. They feature Kyler Murray who has had success in the NFL up to this point.  He had well over 3,000 passing yards and 24 touchdowns in his 2021 campaign. The Eagles will also see another familiar face in Zach Ertz in this game. He ended his career in Philadelphia being one of the most prolific Eagles tight ends in history.

Overall, this game is honestly a toss-up. The Eagles have not seen the Cardinals since 2020 when they lost a close one in Arizona that year. Philadelphia does have a step up within their receiving core but a quarterback who has his ups and downs in Jalen Hurts. The Eagles running game should also be pretty good this year even with the loss of Jordan Howard. While Arizona has Kyler Murray who has shown he can win with the Cardinals. However, they have lost a key piece in wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins due to suspension. The Cardinals have a slight edge in this one as they have the home-field advantage.

Cardinals Win: 28-31

Week 6 vs Cowboys, 10/16, NBC, 8:20 PM

In Week 6 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2022 schedule, they face their archrival in the Dallas Cowboys.  This matchup will also be a Sunday night prime time matchup. Last year Dallas swept the Eagles winning both games by big margins. However, this will be an improved Eagles team in 2022 and the Eagles will be looking for different results. The Cowboys have a great quarterback in Dak Prescott who has proved he is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. Furthermore, the Eagles will have to stop Ezekiel Elliott on the ground. The Cowboys did lose Amari Cooper in the offseason to the Browns and are having a tough time with contract negotiations with Dalton Shultz. However, the Cowboys did franchise tag him, which guarantees the Cowboys have at least one more season with him.

This is another game that could go either way. Luckily for the Eagles, though they are at home and tout a very good receiving core and an improved secondary on defense. The Eagles should be able to keep up with this Dallas team this year and at least win one out of two games against the Cowboys. With this being said, it seems like the most likely game for the Eagles to take in the season series.

Eagles win: 24-21

Week 7 vs Steelers, 10/30, CBS, 1 PM

The Eagles have a Week 7 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. Pittsburgh finished 9-7-1 in 2021 and made it to the Wild Card Round of the Playoffs where they lost to the Cleveland Browns. The 2022 season will look different for the Steelers as they lost legendary Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to retirement. They will now have to find a new quarterback to step up and take over this Steelers team. The depth chart has Mitch Trubisky as their starting quarterback, but Pitt standout Kenny Pickett is right behind him and could easily win that job.

The Steelers have a decent team, but their quarterback situation is up in the air. Mitch Trubisky has struggled being a starting quarterback in the NFL and Kenny Pickett is a rookie playing his first year in the NFL. The Eagles should be able to score on this team whether it’s through Miles Sanders on the ground or with the arm of Jalen Hurts. Another name that has not been mentioned yet is Dallas Goedert who has made his mark in the NFL. He will be a big part of the Eagles’ winning games. To put it simply this Eagles’ offense will be a little much for Pittsburgh to handle.

Eagles Win: 21-14

This concludes Part two of looking at the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles schedule and predicting the win-loss totals.
