Sentinels SicK to Take Extended Leave This Season

Sentinels haven’t been doing very well this season, they are now coming up on the end of Challengers Stage Two with zero wins under their belt. To make matters worse, this morning the Sentinels Twitter Account relayed that Hunter “SicK” Mims would be taking an extended leave. This sudden absence is due to an “ongoing family matter”, and was the reason that he had to be substituted out of the Sentinel’s last match on May 28. That match became a devastating loss at the hands of OpTic Gaming.

Sentinels have two more games scheduled in Challengers Stage Two. They will have to win both in order to have a chance at going on to Masters. Fortunately, Tyson “TenZ” Ngo has made his return to the Sentinels after testing positive for Covid-19. His brief absence came right before the Sentinels’ last defeat, when both he and SicK had to be subbed out. Hopefully, TenZ is feeling well rested and ready to bring Sentinels back from disqualification.

Sentinels coach Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty will be taking SicK’s place on Sentinels for the remainder of Challengers Stage Two, and possibly for the rest of the 2022 season. Many fans have asked why Rawkus is filling in instead of Jared “zombs” Gitlin, the player who helped bring Sentinels to victory last year. Zombs stepped down this April from Sentinels’ active roster. He now focuses on streaming.

SicK is best known for his role in Sentinels as a support player, typically maining smokes like Omen and Viper, or heals like Sage. In the last match that Rawkus subbed in, he played Initiators Breach and Sova. Whether or not he will be able to fill a more passive role like SicK’s will be seen on Saturday, June 4, when Sentinels play against FaZe Clan.
