Shaq Leonard Out for Week 2

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Shaq Leonard has been ruled out for Week 2. Leonard is dealing with a back injury which also kept him out of Week 1’s eventual tie with the Colts’ division rival, the Houston Texans. Wide receiver Alec Pierce is also out with a concussion.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Friday.

Leonard, who was a first round draft pick in 2018, won the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year during his first season, leading the league in tackles. He has been a three-time First Team All-Pro selection and a three-time Pro Bowler.

In 2021, Leonard played in 16 games (a career high). He had 122 tackles, eight pass deflections and four interceptions. He also led the league in forced fumbles, with eight total. Leonard recovered three fumbles, but did not manage to score on any of them.
