T1 Resigns League of Legends Superstar Faker

After a tense free agency, T1 and Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok have finally come to an agreement. The famous mid laner will keep on performing for the League of Legends organization.

While 2020 has been rough on the Korean team, 2021 saw them reach the Worlds semifinals. Unfortunately, runners-up Damwon Gaming was too tough of an opponent for T1 to beat. However, there was now hope for another title run this year, safe for Faker’s free agency.

Faker is Back

But Faker chose to stay loyal to the organization that started him almost ten years ago. Along the way, he had not only become a worldwide phenomenon, but also the entire face of League of Legends esports. Securing three Worlds champion titles and nine LCK championships, it is pretty safe to say that T1 is Faker, and Faker is T1.

Furthermore, he recently decided to be more involved with the team, even becoming one of its part-owners. While many rumors were pointing towards a safe return of the prodigy, esports is a land of many possibilities. Now that both T1 and Faker confirmed it, fans can finally rest and look forward to his next performances with the organization.

T1 2022

Contrary to Faker’s simple “I’m back”, T1 Entertainment & Sports CEO Joe Marsh shared a few words about how this agreement came to be.

“honored that Faker has chosen to re-sign with T1. These past few days have been a lot of sleepless nights and long conversations with Faker and his team. Excited to continue on this journey together.”

This year’s free agency looks to be surprising, with many high-profile players on the market. Apart from Faker, T1 is looking for a fresh coat of paint. The organization has recently released midlaner Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon, jungler Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan, and support Ryu “Hoit” Ho-seong from its lineup. T1 fans are probably already scouting for who will fight alongside their superstar.
