Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Season 2 Delayed

Instead of releasing on February 2, Activision has delayed the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2 to February 14, using the extra time to balance and optimize the esports experience.

Activision explains this reschedule by explaining there is still work to do on Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2. Gameplay optimization, weapon and equipment balancing, and quality-of-life improvements are what the studio is focusing on. During these twelve days, Activision intends to improve the experiences of Vanguard, Warzone Pacific, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare.

In all of recent Call of Duty, players have been subject to many game-breaking or simply annoying bugs.  In its community update, Activision has communicated its awareness about this situation, and the community’s frustration. They have communicated about their intention to provide fixes for all five systems.

Activision Blizzard

Although recently bought out by Microsoft, Activision Blizzard is still in the middle of a sexual harassment and workplace misconduct scandal. Such a change in ownership could easily explain the need for a delay. Furthermore, more than one talent has left the videogame studio, wishing to work in a better work environment.

In December 2021, Raven Software protested against the unjustified layoffs of several members of the Call of Duty Warzone development team. This led to an ever-increasing workload, supported by fewer workers. Now, Activision needs twelve more days to fix the many problems across the entire Call of Duty franchise. Of course, it all starts with Vanguard Season 2.
