The April free Xbox Games with Gold have been announced

The free Xbox Games with Gold for April 2022 have been revealed, with four free being handed out to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold subscribers over the course of the month. It’s the same story as usual, with a selection of games that can get you through the shortest month on the calendar.

What are April 2022’s Xbox Games with Gold?

The four games are the usual mixture of two Xbox One titles and two Xbox or Xbox 360 games that can be played via backward compatibility. Everything is obviously playable on Xbox Series X|S as well. The four games will be made available at different points through the month, as follows:

So, do April’s Games with Gold add up to a good month for subscribers, or are they disappointing?

Personally the pick of the bunch is Hue, a lovely side-scrolling puzzle adventure that used a wheel of colours for all the puzzle solving in the game. In our Hue review from 2016, Dom wrote “A charming puzzle platformer, Hue’s colourful aesthetic and thoughtful tone make for an enjoyable, if slight, adventure that will leave an indelible mark on your soul.”

I’m honestly not familiar with the other Xbox One title, Another Sight, but it sports and interesting sounding twinned adventure with teenager Kit and the red-furred cat Hodge exploring a late Victorian era (and steampunk!) London.

We then switch things up for the two Xbox 360 games, both playable via backward compatibility, with some intergalactic tycoon management in Outpost Kaloki X, and the eternal battle between two wheels and four in MX vs. ATV Alive. All the way back in 2011, Peter gave that one a moderate 6/10.

So, what do you think?

Can I still download the March 2022 Games with Gold Games?

Yes! You’ve still got the weekend to grab most of last month’s games. Due to Microsoft’s staggered freebies, Sacred 2 has already exited the service, but the the other three games are still available until the end of this month or into the middle of April.
