The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

During the previous episode of The Devil Is A Part-Timer!, Emi agrees to stay with Maou and Alas Ramus for a night after Suzune explains the importance of Yesod in Tree of Life and how its disappearance will result in chaos. Maou tells Alas Ramus a bedtime story to make her sleep and actually tells her his own backstory. Gabriel returns to take Alas Ramus and Emi’s Holy Sword in the morning, but it is then revealed that it contains Yesod’s fragment.

Maou doesn’t want to lose Alas Ramus, so he requests Gabriel to let her stay. But, as he is reluctant to take her, this causes a clash, and Alas attacks Gabriel in the sky. Emi also joins, and her sword gets broken by Gabriel’s sword. Alas Ramus asks Emi if she will always be with Maou, to which she agrees. The little girl saves Maou from dying and disappears into the sky.

Emi gets full of power and easily overpowers Gabriel, which leaves him with no choice but to withdraw. After the battle, everyone is sad, thinking Alas Ramus is gone. But, Emi reveals to Chiho that Alas Ramus fused herself to her sword during the battle. She further says that the little girl wants to make Maou understand how it feels to lose someone important.

Seeing Maou devastated by her disappearance, Emi returns Alas Ramus to him, relieving Maou. At the end of the episode, Gabriel and Saure are shown having a conversation, and Saure says that they should start to investigate the one who stole the Yesod, which is Emi’s mother, Lailah.
