After today’s decider series, the last teams that qualify for the playoffs will be clear. Both teams will face a do-or-die match to continue their journey at the VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen. With one loss each, the teams will face each other in the Group B decider and if they lose this match, they will bid farewell to the tournament.
NORTHEPTION had spectacular success in their home region of Japan. Qualifying for the VCT 2022 Japan Stage 2 Challengers Playoffs without losing a map from the regional qualifiers, the squad was seen as one of the strongest teams of this stage. However, they were not the strongest. Because ZETA DIVISION, the end game boss, were also taking part in the tournament.

They lost to DRX in the opening match of the global tournament despite putting up a good fight. They then knocked APAC representative XERXIA Esports out of the tournament with a 2-1 and managed to secure a spot in the decider.
On the other hand, bad luck has been haunting FPX. The team couldn’t attend the previous Masters event due to various reasons, and they are struggling with a stand-in in this tournament as well. They have been away from the international scene for a very long time and finally took part in such a big organization for the first time. This has raised a lot of expectations for them.
Luckily, FPX won their first match at Masters Copenhagen against XERXIA Esports. However, Then lost 2-1 to Korean representative DRX in a close match.
FunPlus Phoenix are the big favorite for this challenge. Although the Japanese teams like to get surprise results, the EMEA squad is more likely to advance to the next round. It is also quite possible that the series will see to the third map.

On the other side, we have OpTic Gaming, champions of the VCT 2022 Stage 1 Masters ReykjavĂk. The North American team is aiming to become the first back-to-back Masters champions by winning this event.
Their journey began with a 2-0 defeat against Guild Esports. Although the score seemed to be one-sided, all the matches were actually very close. The team had to play an elimination match and despite going down 1-0, they made an incredible comeback to beat Brazilian representative LOUD 2-1 and sent them home.
Both teams looked very strong and well prepared for the tournament. Especially KRĂœâ€™s performance is quite convincing. That’s why it’s very difficult for the series not to go to the third map.
