VCT Champions 2022: 100 Thieves trumps Fnatic in an NA vs EU match

The win was even sweeter considering the 100 Thieves roster is in isolation due to COVID.

Group D’s second match was interesting, to say the least. Not that it is a match between two big teams. More than that, only one team was physically on location at the venue – multiple members of the 100 Thieves roster tested positive for COVID. Thus, the team had to be isolated from the public; they had to play against Fnatic in an isolation facility.

The match kicked off with Pearl, the newest map in VALORANT. Both teams played well heading into the first half, grabbing six wins each. The second half is where 100 Thieves ramped up their game as they dominated Fnatic with ease – ending the map with a win under their name, 13-10.

Bind became where Fnatic turned the table around, as they are the aggressors this time around. This was easily seen in the first half where the map ended with Fnatic ahead by four points. Even in the second half, Fnatic was the dominant side with wins after wins in their name. They ended the match in round 20, giving them the win with a score of 13-7.

Haven is the map that turned the luck around for 100 Thieves. While the first half is like Pearl, it is in the second half as the defender that the North American figuratively stood up and took charge. Not a single moment was wasted as 100T easily executed back-to-back wins, leaving Fnatic in the dust. By round 20, all are over as 100T won the map 13-7.

100 Thieves joins DRX at the top of the charts for Group D and will be facing them in the Winners’ Match to see who will head into the Playoffs stage.

VCT Champions Istanbul is happening in Istambul from August 31 until September 18, with the Playoffs set to be played in front of a live audience at Volkswagen Arena starting September 9, 2022.
