Vergeway Walkthrough Chapter 8

Vergeway Walkthrough Chapter 8

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 1

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 31,500 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Fighter Squad, Lightning Tower, Crossbow Tower, Bugsy, Bran
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Trebuchet Squad, Cyclone (or Earthquake), Deadly Shot, Indigo, Blake

This one is relatively straightforward, especially if you’ve upgraded your more recent cards decently. I think you should be able to defeat this stage using Level 4-5 cards. I’ve had no problem with Level 6 or 7 cards, but the differences shouldn’t be too large.

First off, you need to set up a solid defense to survive the enemy waves. Start by placing a Monolith Tower on the second column from your Stronghold, then fill the first column with Lightning Towers and Magma Towers (three of each). This should be enough to remove most, if not all, attackers before they reach you.

Whenever you have spare Aether, use Cyclone or Earthquake on the towers on the enemy’s side, starting from the closer bunch. Two skills should destroy the towers (an upgraded Earthquake might one-shot some if leveled up enough).

After you’ve managed to defeat the enemy officers (use Deadly Shots to soften the attacking force if needed) and removed the towers at the front, use Indigo, Blake, and Trebuchet Squads to mount an offense. They shouldn’t have a problem destroying the remaining towers and killing the Stronghold eventually. Use skills to support them if needed.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 2

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy all Towers
  • 20 Towers to destroy
  • Enemies encountered: Stallion Squad, Destroyer Squad, Trebuchet Squad, Snow Tower, Yeti
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Cyclone, Whirlpool, Earthquake

Enemy towers are placed in three columns of six towers, with the remaining two towers between the second and third columns.

Your defensive strategy is similar to the previous stage, but you can freely move your Towers a bit farther from the Stronghold. The same setup will also work, with one Monolith in the front, followed by a Magma and Lightning Towers column.

For the offense, you don’t need much more than your skills. Earthquakes should remove the targeted towers outright, while you’ll need two Cyclones to remove some. Always make sure to cover as many towers as possible with a single skill.

Ideally, you shouldn’t need the remaining card slots, but feel free to put some skills that work against officers and soldiers if you get in a pinch. Deadly Shot and Arrow Rain are inexpensive choices you can weave in between Earthquakes and Cyclones.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 3

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 32000 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Cannoneer Squad, Destroyer Squad, Magus, Arrow Tower, Axel
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Trebuchet Squad, Destroyer Squad, Lava Spout, Indigo, Blake

In this stage, you’ll be defending for the first two minutes since the enemy will create a few waves of opponents you need to survive. Luckily, a similar defensive strategy as before will work, with one Monolith Tower backed up by a column of Magma and Lightning Towers (three of each will work). Use a Lava Spout sporadically to soften the enemy offensive, and replace the Monolith when it gets destroyed (enemy Magus soldiers are ranged and will eventually get to it). Destroyer Squads won’t even bother with your Towers, making them relatively harmless.

After you’ve killed all the officers (which should be around the 1:20 mark remaining), mount an offense with your officers and soldier squads. They should be dispatching the enemy Stronghold before the defensive forces overwhelm them.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 4

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 34,000 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Stone Tower, Crossbow Squad, Shield Squad, Mole Shaman, Snow Beast
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Trebuchet Squad, Catapult Squad, Indigo, Bran, Deadly Shot (or any other anti-soldier skill)

This is one of the more interesting stages in this Chapter.

You can start with the backline defense like previous chapters (one Monolith, three Magma, and three Lightning Towers). Make sure you put the Towers as far back as possible with the Monolith directly in front of them. It’s going to be important later.

Use a few Catapult and Trebuchet Squads immediately to push through the initial towers. Alternatively, you can use Earthquake as your skill to remove the towers and gain some ground for later.

The Snow Beast will appear relatively soon, but it moves extremely slowly. Like, glacially slow. However, it has an attack range that easily surpasses your defenses and can slow your units.

Once your initial sieging force is destroyed, just let the Snow Beast attack your Towers in the backline. Your summoning region should be behind its back by then. Replace the Monolith when it gets destroyed, wait for the few remaining units to pass the Snow Beast, then make your move.

You need to deploy all your offensive units (officers and squads) behind the Snow Beast so they don’t waste any time attacking it. You should be able to push through the remaining few towers and lingering defenses easily.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 5

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 131 Enemies to defeat
  • Enemies encountered: Bullseye Tower, Guardians, Sniper Squad, Scarlet Bolt, Snapper
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Trebuchet Squad, Catapult Squad, Deadly Shot, Cyclone

This one is a bit different defense-wise from the previous stages. You’ll need more Towers to withstand the enemy onslaught. I recommend putting a Monolith on the third column from the left, then place Magma and Lightning Towers behind it as soon as you have the Aether for it. Use Deadly Shot liberally to remove ranged opponents your Towers aren’t targeting (since melees will usually be in their way). Place more Monoliths when needed.

Use Cyclones to remove enemy towers two at a time. Each Cyclone should be able to sweep a tower in one hit. If it doesn’t, repeat the stage with Earthquake or any other higher-leveled skill that’s effective against towers. You’ll need to spare Aether for defenses, but don’t forget that you have to destroy the towers to finish the stage.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 6

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 222 Enemies to defeat
  • Enemies encountered: Fire Tower, Catapult Squad, Lizard Squad, Grim Wolf, Hoarder
  • Card selection: any Tower, Guardians, Cyclone, Bran, Earl, Indigo, Stella, Billy

You’ll only need to put one Tower at the bottom left (or top left) corner of your summoning region. It serves as bait for enemy Catapult Squads (they won’t attack your units).

Guardians and all your officers will be your main defending force. Place all the ranged officers close to your Stronghold and melee units (Bran and Guardians) in front of them.

Use Cyclone to remove the towers. Two of them should clear all towers easily.

Reinforce your army with officers as soon as you have enough Aether for it, and just let them push to victory. Don’t let any units pass yours. Otherwise, deploy Guardians to clear them as necessary.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 7

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 35,500 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Assassin Tower, Hammer Squad, Fighter Squad, Aegis, Snail Princess
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Destroyer Squad, Catapult Squad (Trebuchets can work too), Earthquake, Bran, Indigo

This stage is more like the chapter’s earliest stage.

Set up your defense close to your Stronghold, using the Monolith to tank most of the hits. Your Magma and Lightning Towers in the back should remove all enemies relatively easily. If a Tower gets destroyed, replace it.

Use Earthquakes to destroy enemy towers and gain some ground to increase your summoning region. Each Earthquake should destroy two towers.

After you’ve removed towers and replenished about 40 Aether, mount an offensive. Place your officers, Destroyer Squads, and Catapults as close to the enemy Stronghold as possible. Deploy more soldiers as needed. You should win easily from there.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 8

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy all Towers
  • 17 Towers to destroy
  • Enemies encountered: Bow Squad, Cavalry Squad, Sword Squad, Gladiator, Assassin Tower
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Catapult Squad, Ballista Squad, Trebuchet Squad, Earthquake, Indigo

Two Magma Towers, two Lightning Towers, and a Monolith are all you need to defend against any approaching units.

Use Earthquake to remove all towers apart from the largest one. With properly skilled positioning, you’ll need four to five Earthquakes.

Wait until 0:50 (you should have more than 40 Aether stored at this point), then place a Monolith Tower next to the enemy’s large tower. Follow up by placing Indigo and your siege squads a few columns away. Reinforce units as soon as possible using all the Aether you have. You should be able to destroy the tower before your Monolith falls.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 9

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy all Towers
  • 13 Towers to destroy
  • Enemies encountered: Magma Tower, Guardians, Ballista Squad, Pyris, Blazing Obelisk
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Catapult Squad, Trebuchet Squad, Deadly Shot, Earthquake, Indigo

This one’s a bit of a doozy, so stick to the instructions.

Start by using the old ‘tower tanking’ trick. Place the Monolith in the front (next to the front-most enemy tower) and your siege Squads (two Catapults, one Trebuchet) behind it. They should be able to take out a few towers before they all die.

Place your standard line of defensive Towers in the back (one Monolith, three Magma, and three Lightning Towers) to protect against incoming enemies.

Use Deadly Shot to clear out Pyris officers whenever they appear. Use Earthquake to clear out towers around the Blazing Obelisk. Don’t target the Obelisk directly with the Earthquake; it won’t do much good.

At around 0:55 left, you should’ve amassed enough Aether for the final push, and the only enemy tower left is the Blazing Obelisk. Place the Monolith in front of the Obelisk to start tanking hits, then put Indigo and all Siege units to start attacking it. All you have to do is finish off the Obelisk to win the stage.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 10

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 159 Enemies to defeat
  • Enemies encountered: Lizard Squad, Stallion Squad, Harpy, Hootclaw, Gryphon
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Snow Tower, Starfall

You’ll need a much stronger defense here than in earlier stages. However, the basics are pretty much the same.

Place a Monolith Tower on the third column from the left to tank hits and provide enough room for other ones. A single Snow Tower and two Magma Towers behind it will work well. The leftover space in the first two columns is for the Lightning Towers.

Don’t waste all your Aether early since you’ll need it for Starfall.

As soon as Gryphons or Hootclaws get into Lightning Tower range, stun them with Starfall. Keep them stunned for as long as possible with more Starfall uses and let the Towers do their job. Place more Lightning Towers when you stockpile enough Aether.

Replace the Monolith Tower when it gets destroyed.

Ideally, you shouldn’t need any other cards to win this stage.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 11

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 36,500 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Monolith Tower, Destroyer Squad, Cannoneer Squad, Hell Drider, Cyclops
  • Card selection: Trebuchet Squad, Cannoneer Squad, Deadly Shot, Stella, Indigo, Blake, Earl, Bran

This stage requires a radically different plan compared to the previous ones.

Just start placing your officers close to the enemy tower to start attacking it. Use a few Trebuchet Squads and Cannoneer Squads to make the job a bit easier.

Cast Deadly Shot when needed to clear away groups of ranged enemies. Re-deploy your officers as soon as their cooldowns are completed. Reinforce your ranged squads when needed.

This stage requires more offense than others, so just keep pushing for tower and Stronghold damage.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 12

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 110 Enemies to defeat
  • Enemies encountered: Lightning Tower, Hawkmen, Billy, Steambot, Witch Doll
  • Card selection: Assassin Tower, Lightning Tower, Monolith Tower, Deadly Shot, Earthquake

This one is pretty easy.

Your initial defense will consist of a Monolith Tower in column two (second from the left), then three Assassin and two Lightning Towers in the back (alternately placed).

Use Deadly Shot liberally to clear away groups of enemies when needed. Replace any Towers when they fall.

The enemy units keep coming until 1:00. After that, you only need two Earthquakes to remove the remaining four towers.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 13

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy all Towers
  • 21 Towers to destroy
  • Enemies encountered: Magma Tower, Sniper Squad, Wraith Soldier, Black Crow, Radiant Obelisk
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Stone Tower, Monolith Tower, Lightning Tower, Catapult Squad, Trebuchet Squad, Cyclone, Indigo

Place your initial defenses – Monolith Tower, Magma Towers, Lightning Towers – same as previous stages. You only need two Magma and Lightning Towers this time around.

Use Cyclone to remove all Magma Towers. It should have enough damage to one-shot a tower with each use. Place each Cyclone so that it strikes the most Magma Towers possible.

Keep defending until 1:00, when you’ve amassed enough Aether. After that, place a Stone Tower to tank the Radiant Obelisk and place Indigo and your siege squads. Place more Stone Towers next to other Obelisks when needed. You can use a Monolith Tower, but you’ll need to store more Aether and don’t get much more health out of it.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 14

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 37,500 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Ice Tower, Snow Tower, Crossbow Squad, Guardians, Frostwing
  • Card selection: Sniper Squad, Cannoneer Squad, Axel, Stella, Indigo, Blake, Earl, Bran

For this stage, you pretty much start on the offense and never look back.

Place Bran, Earl, Indigo, and Stella as your officers first. Follow them up with a few Sniper and Cannoneer Squads. Don’t place Blake until Bran is about to die. Replace Blake with Axel in a similar way. Re-deploy Bran when possible.

Keep reinforcing your backline with Cannoneers when you have enough Aether. Re-deploy Indigo if he dies since he deals a lot of damage to the Stronghold. You will lose units and officers to enemy defenses, but you’ll deal enough damage to win.

Vergeway Chapter 8 Stage 15

  • Start with 65 Aether and 5,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 108 Enemies to defeat
  • Enemies encountered: Crossbow Tower, Hawkmen, Grim Reaper, Vengeful Centaur
  • Card selection: Monolith Tower, Assassin Tower, Lightning Tower, Arrow Rain, Deadly Shot, Starfall, Cyclone, Earthquake

This one is fairly straightforward for the final stage in a Chapter.

Start by placing one Monolith in the second column, then alternatively place Assassin Towers and Lightning Towers in the first column. Replace any of these Towers when they get destroyed.

Use Deadly Shot to remove clumps of ranged enemies. You can also use Starfall to buy some time for your Towers to kill enemy officers if needed.

Use Earthquake on the enemy towers to destroy them. Three Earthquakes should be enough, and you should have more than enough Aether to use them after 1:30.

After you finish this stage, you get another free Power Key to level up some of your cards more, hopefully.
