Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut was named the Most Valuable Player of ESL Pro League Season 16 by HLTV x 1xBet, breaking a 10-month streak without an MVP medal. The 21-year-old superstar was by far the standout performer for Vitality during the European team’s journey to the trophy in Malta.
This is the Frenchman’s only MVP award of the year and the first since IEM Winter 2021, bringing his total career tally to 13. ZywOo‘s lights-out performances throughout the tournament allowed him to comfortably beat the likes of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, and Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis to the award.
ZywOo leaves ESL Pro League S16 with his thirteenth MVP medal
ZywOo was on fire from start to finish at EPL, topping the scoreboard in every group stage match to secure Vitality‘s unbeaten status in Group A. Some of his notable performances include the matches against Spirit and Endpoint, worthy of 1.69 and 1.61 ratings respectively.
The Frenchman did not lift the foot off the gas pedal after advancing to playoffs as he propelled Vitality to victories over Outsiders in the quarter-final and G2 in the semi-final. In the last match, ZywOo posted a record-breaking 143 frags and a 1.39 rating across the five-map series to power his team to victory over Liquid.
