The Florida Panthers are getting a great start out of Anthony Duclair this season; in the team’s first 13 games, he had 10 points and eight goals, the latter of which has him tied for fourth in the NHL.
The Carolina Hurricanes are pleased with Ethan Bear’s play on the blue line. He has stepped up after the departure of Dougie Hamilton. Despite the fact that he has the fewest starts in the offensive zone for any Carolina defenseman but nonetheless has the best possession percentage among that squad.
The Edmonton Oilers are fortunate to have Mikko Koskinen in goal. After Mike Smith went down to injury in October, Koskinen put up a 7-1-0 record in his first eight games, posting a .920 save percentage and a 2.54 GAA. He is also tied for second for wins by a goalie this season.
The Calgary Flames got points in 10 of their first 11 games out of Elias Lindholm, including seven goals. That tied him for the team lead with Johnny Gaudreau over that stretch. He also led the NHL in plus/minus at +12 during those first 11 games.
The St. Louis Blues have gotten six goals and 11 points in their first ten games out of David Perron, averaging almost 18 minutes of ice time per game despite playing at the age of 33. With Ryan O’Reilly missing time in the early weeks of the season, Perron helped the team stay steady.
The Washington Capitals have gotten over a dozen minutes per game and a pair of goals out of Daniel Sprong, who has come on in the absence of Anthony Mantha, who had shoulder surgery two weeks ago and does not have a timetable for his return yet. One of those goals came on a highlight-reel breakaway against Spencer Knight of the Florida Panthers.
The Minnesota Wild is thrilled with Jonas Brodin’s play on the blue line. Through the team’s first 11 games, he had two goals, six points and 27 shots on goal, and his 18 blocks were second on the team. He eats up ice time, averaging more than 23 minutes on the ice each contest.
