Wet weather racing and dynamic, changeable conditions have made a comeback in Gran Turismo 7, but not all circuits in the game support rain. Here’s a handy run down so you know which tracks do and do not support rainy days.
Why is rain not available for all GT7 tracks?
Polyphony Digital are very particular about how and when they implement features, and for GT7 they’ve decided to only implement rain on circuits where it would be realistic. Part of the reason for that could be that they’re trying to realistically recreate how rain falls on these circuits, where it puddles on the tracks, how it clears from the racing line over time, and so on.
It’s a shame that we can’t be a little bit daft and have a rainy day race at Willow Springs or Mount Panorama, but there you go.
Which circuits feature rain in GT7?
We’ve not quite unlocked all of the tracks in Gran Turismo 7 just yet, but here’s the tracks that we know and can confirm have support for wet weather racing:
Americas:
- None?
Europe:
- Circuit de la Sarthe
- Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
- Dragon Trail Gardens
- Nurburgring
- Red Bull Ring
Asia / Oceania:
- Autopolis
- Fuji Speedway
- High Speed Ring
- Tokyo Expressway
- Suzuka
- Tsukuba Circuit
This list will be updated as we find more circuits that definitely, 100% support wet weather racing. I’m as shocked as you are that Interlagos is not on this list, but Polyphony obviously don’t think it rains much down in Brazil!
The rain is not the only selective feature in Gran Turismo 7. There’s also a lot of variation between tracks that support day time transitions and a full 24 hour races, and only some circuits have got Meeting Place lobbies. Then there’s the whole ray tracing option on PlayStation 5, which we dive into in our performance comparison.
