Now that the 2022 NFL Draft is over, the TGH staff have ranked their top 100 players ahead of the 2022 NFL season.
Multiple TGH staff members voted on their top 100 players, who were given scores based on their ranks, then sorted by their final score. The players were ranked regardless of position, and the editors broke any ties at their discretion.
Each article in this series will list 10 players at a time, with brief comments on their 2021 performances and what is expected of them in 2022. Make sure to check back every Friday for the next 10 players in our list!
Today, we list and evaluate players 50-41 in our list of the 2022 NFL Top 100.
50. George Kittle
Kittle was drafted in the fifth of the 2017 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco hit the jackpot that year, as Kittle is one of the best tight ends in the NFL. In five years, Kittle has three Pro Bowl appearances and was a First Team All Pro selection in 2019. He also racked up two 1,000 yard receiving seasons in 2018 and 2019. In 2021, Kittle had 910 receiving yards and a career high six touchdowns. -Matthew Brown
49. Maxx Crosby
In his third year in the NFL, Crosby collected eight sacks, seven defended passes and 56 combined tackles. He has easily been the best Raiders pass rusher since arriving in the league, and will probably have an uptick in numbers now that Chandler Jones now shares a locker room with him. -Ben Hendricks
48. Nick Chubb
Chubb is only four rookie season yards from rushing for 1,000 yards in every year he has been in the NFL. Last season, he played in only 14 games but still had 1,259 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, making his third consecutive Pro Bowl in the process. He is without a doubt one of the best young backs in the league right now. -Ben Hendricks
47. Robert Quinn
Robert Quinn had a “time machine” type of year in 2021, going for 18.5 sacks during his age 31 season. Despite that impressive number, it still ranks as his second-best sack number in a season, as he racked up 19 sacks in 2013. Last year, Quinn also forced five fumbles and had almost 50 combined tackles on the way to the Pro Bowl. He could very well be the most talented player on the Bears roster for the 2022 season. -Ben Hendricks
46. Matthew Stafford
Stafford has been a good quarterback who didn’t get the recognition he deserved playing in Detroit. After a great year with the Rams that ended with a Super Bowl victory, he should start getting more respect for what he has gone through during his career. Having Stafford at quarterback and a good defense makes them threats to repeat as super bowl champs. -Joe DiTullio
45. Tre’Davious White
The Bills had a good season even after White was injured, but he may be the key to putting them over the top in 2022. He can shut down a whole area of the field and is able to take players (see Rob Gronkowski) out of the game regardless of their position. -Joe DiTullio
44. Derwin James
James has been a great safety when healthy. He flies around the field making plays and is a valuable part of the chargers defense. James will have a chance to really make an impact for the chargers after the team acquired a few high profile free agents on the defensive side of the ball. -Joe DiTullio
43. Joey Bosa
In his six NFL seasons, Joey Bosa has hit the double-digit sack mark four times. In fact, the two seasons in which he did not eclipse 10 sacks he missed games due to injury. Bosa had a massive seven forced fumbles during the 2021 season on his way to a fourth Pro Bowl nod. Simply put, he is a prolific pass rusher in today’s game. -Ben Hendricks
42. Joel Bitonio
Bitonio has been a Cleveland Brown since he was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Since draft day, he has emerged as one of the most reliable guards in the NFL. In the past four years alone, Bitonio has been nominated to three Second Team All-Pros and one First Team All-Pro in addition to making the Pro Bowl every single one of those years. He will continue to be an anchor of this Browns line in 2022. -Ben Hendricks
41. Darius Slay
Slay is a four-time Pro Bowler and was a First Team All Pro in 2017. He spent most of his time in the NFL with the Lions from his rookie year in 2013 until 2019. He, then, signed with Eagles in 2020, starting the second chapter of his career.
Slay had a big year in 2021, racking up 52 total tackles and three interceptions. He also led the league with 116 fumble return yards and returned two fumble recoveries for touchdowns. He is one of the best players in the secondary for the Eagles and should have another big year in 2022. -Matthew Brown
