5 Players to Watch During the Bears 2023 Preseason Games

The NFL preseason is an exciting time for football fans. Not only does it mean the regular season is right around the corner, but it also gives fans a chance to see new young players. Watching these young players creates excitement from fans about what is to come. The Bears are a team with lots of young talent that fans should keep an eye on during the 2023 preseason.

Tyler Scott, WR

One player that has gained fans’ attention is Tyler Scott, thanks to his speed. Scott has burned teammates deep down the field during camp with his electrifying speed that has fans looking forward to seeing Scott play in games.

While Scott’s speed is exciting, he has also shown a tendency to drop passes during camp. This has led to worry about how reliable his hands are. Scott’s speed is useless if he can catch the ball on a frequent basis. So fans will have to pay attention to the number of catches versus drops Scott makes during the preseason. If Scott is positive in that category the Bears will have a good asset going forward. Scott will be a fun player to monitor during the preseason.

Darnell Wright, RT

Entering his rookie season, Wright has a lot to prove after being drafted tenth overall. Wright was drafted to be an anchor of this offensive line, so fans will be critical of his play throughout the 2023 season. Fan evaluations of Wright will begin in the preseason when he is on the field with the starters, but that means Wright will most likely not play much during the preseason. Wright needs to show fans his talent by maximizing his snaps. Maximizing snaps, in this case, means protecting the quarterback by not giving up pressures and sacks. If Wright can do that in the preseason, then fans will be excited for his play in the regular season.

Gervon Dexter Sr., DT

Fans are excited to see what Dexter can do after flashing in camp. Dexter’s flashes came when he burst through the offensive line to create would-be sacks and turnovers. However, Dexter has not been consistent with these plays, causing some worry about getting to the quarterback. This is why fans want to see Dexter create constant havoc during preseason games. If he can do that he will have more chances to play during the regular season.

Zacch Pickens, DT

Pickens has had a particularly quiet camp. Even though Pickens has not stood out, that does not mean he has not improved his game. Coaches have said they are excited by the steady improvements from Pickens each day. It will be interesting to see if Pickens can take his improvements and make plays in the preseason. If he can, his future could be bright with the Bears.

Roschon Johnson, RB

Johnson has already flashed his power during training camp by trucking someone. So the fourth round rookie out of Texas is certainly someone to keep an eye on during preseason. Johnson not only has power, but he also has speed and pass blocking ability.

If Johnson shows all three of these skill sets during preseason games, there is much to be excited about. Because not only will it mean Johnson will get more snaps during the regular season, but it shows he can have the ability to be a three down starter. That capability is important to a Bears organization that has always had a good run game.
