Being an ARPG, battles of different types are one of the most prominent features of the game. One of the battle types in the game that is really interesting is the Crystal Defense. AFK Journey Crystal Defense Battle: What Type of Battle Is It?

As mentioned before, Crystal Defense is one of the battle types in AFK Journey right now. It is very interesting because it is quite different compared to all the other varieties of battle types that there are. In a Crystal Defense battle, the main objective is to defend the Crystal, pretty self explanatory. The Crystal has a set amount of HP, which if depleted will cause you to lose instantly. However, there are not only a few enemies attacking you. Unlike regular battle types, there will be three different swarms of enemies attacking you. 

The first swarm is of course already stationed and ready to attack when the battle starts. The second swarm shows up about 20-30 seconds after the battle starts, regardless of whether you’ve defeated all the enemies from the first swarm or not. The third swarm shows up another 20-30 seconds after the second swarm is already attacking you, regardless of whether they are defeated or not, of course.

Keep in mind that the Crystal Defense battle only lasts for 88 seconds like other battles. You have to defeat all the enemies while defending the Crystal to win the battle, within the given 88 seconds for the battle. Therefore, choosing the right team formation that can defend the Crystal properly and also defeat the enemies within the set amount of time is crucial. As mentioned before, your job in a Crystal Defense battle in AFK Journey is to defend the Crystal properly. For this reason, having the correct team formation is essential to ensure that the Crystal is not destroyed. This means that the most important role of heroes that you will need to keep or deploy in your team formation is the Tank role. Tanks provide defense and that is exactly what we need. Now, without further ado, here is the best team formation that you can use for Crystal Defense battles in AFK Journey: 

• Antandra: This is the first hero on the team formation as an A-level hero known for her amazing defensive abilities. She is, of course, from the Tank class or role. Her list of skills includes Shield Assault, Shield Formation, Spear Barrage and Gale Barrier.
  
• Temesia: This is the second hero on the team formation as an S-level hero known for her immunity control and spectacular defense. She is also, of course, from the Tank class or role. Her list of skills includes Knight’s Heart, Iron Heel, Courage Sword and Invincible Fury.
  
• Hewynn: This is the third hero on the team formation as an S-level hero known for her top-tier healing abilities. This obviously makes her a hero from the Support class or role. Her list of skills includes Rain Prayer, Healing Wave, Revitalize and Tranquility.
  
• Cecia: This is the fourth hero on the team formation as an S-level hero known for her damage-dealing abilities. She is from the Marksman class or role, which makes her the DPS or main damage dealer of this team formation. Her list of skills includes Queen’s Summons, Earth’s Offering, Agonizing Puncture and Trial of Thorns.
  
• Vala: This is the fifth hero on the team formation as an S-level hero known for her nearly instant-kill ability alongside her haste and movement speed. She belongs to the Rogue class or role, which is why she is the secondary damage dealer of this formation Her list of skills includes Swift Shift, Notice Beforehand, Checkmate and Night Maneuver. 

Now that we know which heroes will be in the team formation for the Crystal Defense battles, it is time to find out the placements of every hero and what they will do. In this formation, the two defenses or Tank heroes will be Antandra and Temesia. As the defense, their job is to stay in the front and protect the Crystal along with, of course, their allies.

For this reason, they will be placed in the second to last row, on either side of the Crystal. They will be placed specifically with Temesia on the right and Antandra on the left and this will leave an empty tile in between them with the Crystal on the tile immediately in front. 

As for the DPS or main damage dealer of this formation, that will of course be Cecia. Cecia will be placed on the last row of the formation, in the smack middle on the third tile. This will allow her damage-dealing skills to be uninterrupted and keep her protected to let her allied summon do the necessary damage. Next up will be our secondary damage dealer, Vala, who will be placed on the tile right next to the immediate left of Cecia. This will not only allow her to do damage to the enemies uninterrupted but also keep her protected from direct damage. 

On the other side of Cecia aka the right tile next to her, will be Hewynn, who is our healer. Being on the last row, Hewynn will be completely protected. All her skills, passive or ultimate will be uninterrupted and this will allow her to heal all the allies effectively.
