Anthony Rendon to Miss Rest of Season With Wrist Injury

After an injury to his right wrist that will require surgery, Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon will miss the rest of the season. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the news.

Rendon, 32, joined the Angels in 2020 after playing seven seasons with the Washington Nationals. He has batted .252 with 20 home runs and 89 RBIs during his tenure in Los Angeles. For his career, Rendon is a .285 hitter with 156 home runs and 635 RBIs.

The loss of Rendon will put more of a damper on an already frustrating season for the Angels. They have a 30-35 record and fired manager Joe Maddon after the team lost 12 games in a row.

After playing 45 games this season, Rendon still has four years and $154 million left on his deal with the team.

Matt Duffy is expected to fill in for Rendon. He has batted .288 with five RBIs this season.
