Call of Duty Vanguard teases major nerfs in future update

Call of Duty Vanguard developer, Sledgehammer Games, has promised that big changes are on the way for its World War II shooter.

Like Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, support for Vanguard will continue throughout 2022 alongside Warzone Pacific, building to the gradual release of this year’s entry in the monolith franchise.

But what can Vanguard players expect in the near future? Sledgehammer teases that it is busy behind the scenes, taking working to implement changes based on community feedback.

Vanguard fans will be delighted to see some of the fixes, buffs, and nerfs in the pipeline:

  • Changes to help with the completion of Panzerfaust Challenges
  • Perk adjustments to help counter all things fire
  • A weapon balancing pass (Sniper buffs and Shotgun nerfs!)
  • A tweak to Mortar Barrage to reduce duration

The stars have aligned for Call of Duty: Vanguard. For the first time, this truly feels like a full package without any caveats. Sure, some parts are naturally stronger than others but there isn’t a weak link in sight. After back to back triumphs, Call of Duty is now on a killstreak.

This year’s Call of Duty has yet to be announced and probably wont be until the second half of 2022. If Activision’s three studio system is going to plan then we’ll get to see what Infinity Ward has been working on since the superb Modern Warfare. It’s likely that the next game will be a sequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

Naturally, there has been no shortage of rumours, speculating that classic maps will return alongside a new PvE mode and Warzone map. Other sources claim that MW2 will include a tactical attack/defend game mode influenced by Rainbow Six Siege.
