Crunch time for Tundra Esports at Lima Major

Dota 2 Andreea “divushka” Esanu

Tundra Esports are in dire need of victories.

Day 3 in the Lima Major group stage was a total disaster for Tundra Esports, who went from Top 4 in group A to now being in danger of an early elimination. Tundra had two series scheduled on Day 3 in Lima and lost both of them 0-2.

First to put a stop to Tundra’s mid game farm fest shenanigans and force them to play outside their comfort zone were PSG.LGD, who ahead of Day 3, didn’t look too bright, win zero series won to their name. They crawled back into contention for a Top 4 finish in the group by shutting down Neta “33” Shapira’s Enigma in both games and by playing a fast-paced, heavily pushing strategy.

In game one, they brought back the zoo meta with a Beastmaster-Chen duo while in game two they had a Beastmaster-Warlock to keep the ball rolling and land a crucial 2-0 victory.

The day went from bad to worse for the TI11 champions who got outplayed by an incredible performance coming from Evil Geniuses’ offlane duo Adrián “Wisper” Dobles and Farith “Matthew” Huamancaja.

Wisper and Matthew were allowed to play in both games a Timbersaw-Riki duo that shut down Tundra’s safe lane and hunted them down at every corner of the map. Timbersaw’s tankiness along with Riki’s annoying tools messed with Tundra’s usually flawless team fight execution.

Game one went past the one-hour mark and featured a lot of back and forth battles and intense moments, while game two went down in 40 minutes with EG holding the networth and experience advantage the whole time.

The 0-4 disaster on Day 3 pushes Tundra into a dangerous position. Ahead of their final two series in the group stage, the TI11 champions sit tied 2-1-3 in series score with TSM, but they are dangerously low, in the bottom three of Group A.

DAY 3 STANDINGS

Tundra’s final group stage matches are scheduled for today, February 25 and both their opponents are not the easiest they could have. Talon Esports, who are currently sitting in second place in Group A will be Tundra’s first adversary for today, followed by Team Spirit.

It would be absolutely crazy to see the TI11 champions eliminated early from Lima Major, so stay tuned and check our tournament HUB for more updates from the first-ever SA Major.
