It’s no big secret that Konami has been struggling to get players onside since it launched eFootball earlier this year. The footie sim was met with a cold reception by critics and PES fans, and was quickly branded the worst rated game on Steam.

The developers have been tirelessly working to get the project back on track, having just rolled out eFootball update 0.9.1. However, the major patch fans have been waiting on has also been postponed along with eFootball mobile. It too will now launch in spring 2022.

Here’s what Konami had to say in its statement regarding the mobile version delay:

We are announcing the postponement of the update to eFootball 2022 for mobile devices from Autumn 2021 to Spring 2022.

The whole team was hard at work to release the update this Autumn, but after much thought we concluded that we would need more time to deliver the quality that you all deserve. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the update and work on improvements to the game.

Due to this, we are also delaying the announcement of the players that are included in eFootball PES 2021 but not in eFootball 2022 at launch.

There are no plans to make changes to the information posted under “In-Game Asset and Other Data Carryover” section.

Lastly, we are discussing internally about eFootball Points that are planned to expire before the update to eFootball 2022 goes live. Our intent is to find a way to allow these points to remain available for you to use in eFootball 2022 after the update.

An announcement regarding this topic will be made in-game as soon as possible, so keep an eye out.

We sincerely apologise to all of you who were looking forward to this update.

Please understand that we have made this choice to make sure that your experience with eFootball 2022 for mobile is the best one possible. To this end, all of us are fully committed to work on both the mobile and console versions to improve the gaming experience for everyone.

We promise this wait will be worth it, so please continue giving us your kind support for eFootball PES 2021 and eFootball 2022.

eFootball is currently available to download and play on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
