What’s coming in the Fortnite Halloween 2023 event? These are all of the Fortnitemares 2023 patch notes and changes.

Fortnitemares 2023 is here! This is the big update for the Autumn and Halloween that we’re been hotly anticipating for quite a few weeks. This is the main event for the Autumn of the game. It celebrates everything spooky with some in-game items and changes. In the past, we’ve become ghosts, werewolves, and more during Fortnite Halloween. What will the 2023 edition of Fortnitemares 2023 bring then? We’ve got the full patch notes here.

The current event has just started up with a fresh update today. It’ll be running for a few weeks. We’ve got some new content like impressive new weapons and fresh C4 S4 Mythics plus a horde rush mode, new crossovers, and then some quests and rewards. What’s happening for the Fortnite Halloween 2023 event then?

This is what’s new, changed, and the timing for the Fortnitemares 2023 event.

Fortnitemares 2023 – Everything That’s Changed

New Weapons for Fortnite Halloween 2023

There aren’t any really big new mechanics for the current Fortnitemares 2023 update. However, we’re getting quite a few new weapons and items though. This is what’s been added. 

Wood Stake Shotgun

One item that was a little off with the leakers is the new shotgun for Fortnitemares. This is the Wood Stake Shotgun. It’s a shotgun you’ll find in the rare chests, holo-chests, along with on the ground and normal chests. It’s a shotgun that shoots stakes, specifically built to take down Kado Thorne. As one of the newest weapons, it’ll be worth checking out a few times during Fortnite Halloween 2023. Although it does seem a bit circumstantial outside of that boss fight.

Thorne’s Vampiric Blade – Fortnitemares 2023

The next new weapon, or returning, for the Fortnite Halloween 2023 event is the Vampiric Blade. It’s a Mythic weapon which Thorne is going to start dropping in-game. You’ll be able to pick it up after taking down the boss. This is a new version of the Kinetic Blade, Thorne’s Vampiric Blade.

The Vampiric Blasé is a katana-style weapon. When you damage players with it, you’ll begin to regain health. It’s got a bit of a Siphon mechanic at work.

Pumpkin Launcher

A common item for Fortnitemares is always the Pumpkin Launcher. This will be hitting the game along with the rest of the Fortnite Halloween update. It’s a re-vamp of the Rocket Launcher. Players can find it around the map. It doesn’t do anything different than the normal rocket launcher but it’s designed to look like a pumpkin instead. It’s always fun to get more common Rocket Launchers around though.

Witch Broom

Another major new addition is the Witch’s Broom. This is an item which you can use for easy mobility around the map in Fortnite Halloween 2023. It shoots you up into the air before deploying your glider and letting you reposition with ease. It’s kind of like the Rocket Ram but it is faster and lacks that painful start-up that you find with the rocket ram. C4 S4 is already a high-mobility season, but the Witch’s Broom might make it one of the most mobile periods we’ve had without the Fortnite X Spider-Man Webslingers.

Sweets

Some sweets are returning! These are candy items you can find around the map during Fortnitemares 2023. They are:

• Candy Corn – Heals
• Pepper Mints – Shield
• Hop Drops – Hop low gravity effect
• Jelly beans – Heals

These are some returning Fortnite Halloween items. They pop up most years. The special effects from can be fun, but they’re not the best heals in the game compared to the rest of the C4 S4 item meta.

Fortnitemares 2023 Quests and Free Cosmetics

It wouldn’t be an event without a chance to earn some free Fortnite cosmetics! As with most seasonal events, we’ve got some special quests to look at which will give out some in-game rewards. This is what you can earn through completing the Fortnitemares quests.

• Complete 5 Fortnitemares 2023 Quests – Bat Royale Back Bling, Cat Banner Icon
• Complete 15 Fortnitemares Quests – Sweet! Emote, Phantasmic Fall Contrail, Hypno-Bat Spray
• Complete 25 Fortnitemares Quests – Revenant Rider Glider, Within the Sanctum Loading Screen, Rise of the Revenant Lobby Track

Each of these rewards will be given out for finishing off the special quests. They will be available for the entire run of Fortnitemares. The challenges are mainly based around the new Fortnitemares content along with Kado Thorne, the big boss of the C4 S4 Heists. It isn’t just these Battle Royale items that you’re getting quests for though.

Fortnite Horde Mode Makes a Comeback

One mode that comes back pretty frequently for Fortnitemares is Horde Rush. This is an LTM. At one point that was a fairly commonly seen rotating feature in Fortnite. Today, they’re pretty rare with Epic preferring to push the best Creative maps out there rather than focusing on their own limited events. Horde Mode is coming back this season for Fortnitemares 2023 though!

The Horde Rush mode will be familiar for long-time members of the Fortnite player base. It’s a game where you move around different POIs under attack from hoards of Cube Monsters. It’s a more traditional game mode compared to a lot of Fortnite. There are some special quests just for Horde Rush though, with its own set of rewards along with the main Fortnite Halloween quests. These are the rewards for Fortnite Halloween 2023 and how to earn them.

• Complete 1 Horde Rush Quest – Murk Wrap
• Complete 4 Horde Rush Quests – Get Heart-o-Lantern Emoticon
• Complete 7 Horde Rush Quests – Batwing Bonespike Pickaxe

Skins and Cosmetics

Fortnite Halloween isn’t just an event with new items, as usual Epic has some new skins to try and sell you! There are new original Halloween skins for Fortnitemares 2023, including some fun ones like Phantom Meowscles.

Along with new original skins, we’re getting a batch of Halloween-themed crossovers coming this season too! The first is with Nightmare Before Christmas. We’re getting a Jack Skellington skin in the item shop. He’ll come with both a standard look from the stop motion film and sandy claws outfit, along with some cosmetics featuring his ghost dog, Zero.

The next big crossover is a bit more adult than Jack Skellington; Michael Myers the Slasher icon is coming as a skin. He’ll be arriving later on in the Fortnite Halloween 2023 event. As will the last of the new crossover, the Alan Wake Outfit. These three new characters will be showing up at some time over Fortnitemares 2023.

When Does Fortnitemares End?

Fortnitemares 2023 is the Halloween event for the game. How long can we expect it to run though? As an event tied to a real-world season, it’s not too hard to predict. The event will run until early November. Rather than stopping as soon as we edge past Halloween, Epic is giving players a few extra days. You have until the November 3 update to get everything done for Fortnitemares 2023. There are quite a few quests and cosmetics to get through, so make sure you’re ticking them of if you want to collect everything Fortnitemares has to offer.
