Heroic best BIG to set up Astralis grand final

Heroic beat BIG in the consolidation final of Pinnacle Cup Championship in a two-map series and book their place in the grand final. They first beat their opponents on Mirage in an overtime game, and then moved on to their map pick of Overpass, where they prevailed with a more comfortable 16-10 score.

This sets them up for the grand final against Astralis, which will be played today at 20:00 . The domestic matchup has proved to be a grudge match of late, as captains of both teams have had some heated arguments on social media.

BIG will now switch their focus to the BLAST Premier Spring Final, for which they will hope that Karim “Krimbo” Moussa will recover in time to play with the team after he had to step back in the last two series in Lund due to contracting COVID, with Nils “k1to” Gruhne flying in to replace him.

cadiaN and company will be facing Astralis in the grand final

The first map of the series was Mirage, where the teams traded round all throughout the first half, as neither managed to string together more than three rounds. BIG won the half in the end by the narrowest of margins, with the German side no doubt satisfied with their offense considering the current CT-sided meta, as they moved on to the defensive side.

Heroic won the second pistol round, converting it to a 13-8 lead, with Rasmus “sjuush” Beck winning a 1v3 clutch in the beginning of the half. Then followed a BIG resurgence, as they were able to string seven rounds in a row with the help of Josef “faveN” Baumann‘s impressive secondary AWPing, to get themselves two match points. sjuush was once again the key player, getting a 3k to get his team within one round of their opponents, and Heroic looked like a completely different team after that. They took the map to overtime, where they won four rounds in a row and closed out the map with a 19-15 scoreline.

Overpass once again started off as a very close affair, as Heroic got the pistol round win, but the Germans were quick to answer with four rounds of their own. Two clutches by René “TeSeS” Madsen and Casper “cadiaN” Møller meant the scores were tied at 5-5, before BIG were able to finish the half with a few impressive rounds, going into the interval with a three round lead.

The second half started off with a pistol round win for the Danes as they converted it to a five round streak, including two 2v3 situations that they managed to win. BIG got their one and only round on their T side when Nils “k1to” Gruhne was able to get a 3k on the A site, but yet another clutch. this time by Ismail “refrezh” Ali, made the scoreline 13-10. Heroic never looked troubled on their defensive side, eventually coming out 16-10 winners and setting up the grand final against their rivals, Astralis.
