IEM Cologne Fantasy games go live

As the Fantasy Spring season 2022 is coming to an end, now is the final chance to get some points on the leaderboard before seasonal prizes are given out. The Fantasy game for IEM Cologne is split into two games, which have both been opened, first for the Play-In stage and then for the Main event, with both HLTV x Roobet leagues awarding the most successful players with skin prizes.

There are certainly a few favorite teams in the Play-In stage, which is supported by the fact that six out of the eight most picked players come from just three teams. These teams are Vitality, who are the highest rated team in the stage, Heroic, who have recently added Jakob “⁠jabbi⁠” Nygaard to their roster and BIG, who have just won the Roobet Cup 2022.

The most popular budget picks for the game include Kévin “⁠misutaaa⁠” Rabier, Tizian “⁠tiziaN⁠” Feldbusch and Leonid “⁠chopper⁠” Vishnyakov who with their low price make squad building a lot easier, allowing you to pick up a player with a much higher price tag.

Speaking of star players, Mathieu “⁠ZywOo⁠” Herbaut is the most expensive player at this stage with a price of $235,000, but given his fragging potential and the fact that his team are the highest rated and have looked much improved in the last event they played, he still comes in as the fourth most picked player.

Other star players from the higher rated teams to consider are Martin “⁠stavn⁠” Lund and Florian “⁠syrsoN⁠” Rische, who are the highest rated players of their teams and are expected to do well against lower rated opposition. An exciting option is also Spirit‘s new AWPer, Igor “⁠w0nderful⁠” Zhdanov, but his high price of $225,000 might dissuade people from picking him, given that he is currently yet unproven against tier one opposition.

While the team list is still incomplete players have already started assembling their squads, with Finn “⁠karrigan⁠” Andersen currently being the most popular player, who should get some decent points when coupled with a Leader role if his team justify their ranking as the best team in the world.
