Kerbal Space Program 2 Launches Into Early Access February 2023

Commencing countdown. Private Division and Intercept Games now have a release date for the rocket-building sim Kerbal Space Program 2.

The original Kerbal Space Program has been a hit, and despite its cartoony aesthetic and fictional world, it’s powered by a pretty detailed physics system that will indeed get you to “accidentally” learn actual rocket science.

Who says you can’t learn something from video games?

KSP 2’s launch will be in Early Access form, and players can help be part of the active development of the game by providing feedback to make the game the best it can be. And as the developers point out in the latest dev blog video above, launching in Early Access is in the spirit of the game.

And this is a game where players will cobble together a bunch of rockets together to head to the Mun only for it to explode after travelling 2 meters after launch. But hey, failure is the best teacher of success after all. And you’ll laugh at the little oopsies you’ve sunk in countless hours of understanding how a rocket must be designed to exit planet Kerbin and land on the Mun.

On launch, KSP 2 will have the following features:

  • Customisable parts (over 350 new parts and improved parts)
    • Overhauled vehicle assembly interface (part sorting, blueprint view)
    • New part colours
  • Improved onboarding (tutorial)
    • includes animated tutorials
    • revamped assembly and flight interfaces
  • New UI/UX improvements
  • New terrain system
  • Reimagined classic locations (Mun, Jool, and more)

But that’s not all, there is also a roadmap of new content that players can expect to arrive throughout the Early Access release, including modding and interstellar travel.

Kerbal Space Program 2 will launch in Early Access on February 24 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).
