LeBron James eclipses 40,000 points

In one of the most anticipated moments of the season, LeBron James has finally surpassed 40,000 points. A feat no other player as accomplished in the history of basketball.

Entering the night just nine points shy of the milestone, there was no doubt that he was going to accomplish the seemingly impossible triumph Saturday night.

Up until that point, Crypto.com Arena was filled with electricity, given everyone in attendance was about to witness history.

With the Lakers up three early in the second quarter, LeBron had the ball driving to the paint against Michael Porter Jr. In LeBron James fashion, he beats Porter Jr. with a spin move and lays it up to give him 40,000 points.

Lakers fans erupt and stand to their feet. The standing ovation was just the beginning of a celebration for one of the greatest, if not the greatest to ever do it.

The camera would also pan to his daughter, his mom, and his wife who have been there every step of the way to support him throughout his career.

After a time-out was called the Lakers’ played a tribute video highlighting the king’s career achievements. He also acknowledged the Laker faithful, took pictures with the game ball, and soaked in all the love he so rightfully deserves.

After the game LeBron made sure to address the Lakers fans. “Much respect and loyalty to the Laker fanbase for showing me that love during the timeout.”

LeBron would go on to pay respect to past and present players, “Being the first player to do something is pretty cool in this league, you know the greats that have come through the league, and then you see some of the greats on the floor tonight, it was just great to compete against that.”

LeBron also discussed what it took to reach this point in his career. “I just play the game, I come to work, I prepare, I prep mentally, physically, spiritually…I’ve been able to do it for 20-plus years,” he said.

“Records were meant to be broken,” Lebron added. But 40,000 points is a record the NBA could see lasting a long time, maybe forever.
