World-class EDM artist, DJ, and producer Steve Aoki has been given a sizeable amount of money by Sega to pretend that he likes Sonic the Hedgehog. The DJ has had tracks in a number of games including Madden NFL 18, Far Cry New Dawn, Riders Republic, and the classic Zumba Burn It Up! but has not featured in a Sonic game.
He’s also the partial owner of Rogue Esports who battle it out in Rainbow Six Siege and League of Legends, but curiously not Sonic.
Never mind, Steve’s here to tell you just how awesome Sonic is as he will be appearing in a virtual concert event on November 30th, coincidently with Aoki’s birthday. You can watch a behind the scenes video below which shows the concert being pre-recorded.
Here more from Sega:
Set in a digitally created and immersive Sonic Universe, this one-of-a-kind concert will transport audiences to iconic environments like the Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant and more as they rock out to their favourite Sonic the Hedgehog jams, EDM style. The 60-minute set will feature original songs from Steve Aoki, as well as Aoki remixed versions of fan-favourite Sonic tunes from the 16-bit SEGA Genesis era to today.
Fans can tune into the virtual concert on the Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube and Twitch channels on November 30, 2021 at 8 PM GMT.
Idris Elba recently announced he will be voice of Knuckles the Echidna for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie. The renowned actor has confirmed the role with a quick little message and photo posted on Twitter. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is planned to release in movie theatres on 8th April 2022.

This casting announcement was much more thought provoking than the “extremely obvious” announcement of the film’s title made earlier this year. Back in February, the movie Twitter account confirmed that the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie will in fact be called Sonic the Hedgehog 2, with a logo reveal that features two tails on the number 2.
That logo hint obviously refers to the two-tailed fox known as Tails to fans of the franchise, but even that was extremely obvious for anyone that watched the original film and stuck around for the teaser post-credits scene, which featured, well…. Tails!
