Stray: All Safe Codes & Locations

As you cat parkour your way through the game, platforming and solving puzzles, you might come across a roadblock. A locked door with a keypad needing an access code, perhaps? Well, there are four codes to find but only 2 doors are required for progressing the story. All codes require a bit of exploration but some are a little harder than others to find.

Stray is an equally beautiful and quirky game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. It’s getting the attention of many gamers lately because the internet simply loves cats. Some of the puzzles are a little obscure and might give you a headache. Don’t worry too much as we’ve got all of them figured out already!

The Flat Door Code

One of the first barriers you come across is a locked door at the end of a dark hallway. Your new drone friend leads you to a keypad that needs an access code. Before this door is an opening to a very dark room. Turn on the drone’s flashlight to illuminate it. On the left, a whiteboard sits atop shelving with bottles obscuring some red text.

Once you use your divine cat powers of knocking things off of ledges, you’ll see that the code for the door is 3748. Enter these numbers into the keypad and it will open.

The Slums Safe Code

Facing the Guardian, soon after entering Slums, take a left towards Morusque, the guitar player. If you continue down this street and take another left, there will be a safe on a pile of trash with a note on it. This note needs to be deciphered by Elliot. You’ll need to scratch on the door of Elliot Programming in order for someone to let you in.

Here Elliot will tell you that the place you need to look for is Dufer Bar. Once inside jump on the bar and knock down the picutre of a beach just above the neon sign. This will reveal four digits written on the wall. This is the code for the slums safe, 1283. Entering this code will grant you Sheet Music 8/8.

The Slums – Part 2 Door Code

Shortly after the Rooftop section is where you’ll come back to the Slums and enter Seamus’ house. There is a hidden door in this room and the clues are also hidden. First, hop up on the counter to knock over all the picture frames hanging on the walls revealing the secrets.

The first frame reveals the hint, “Time Will Tell” and the fourth frame reveals the door’s keypad. The clue is in reference to the 4 clocks above the couch. The time indicated on these clocks is the 4 digits of the code. Pay no attention here to the 16 hours on the faces of the clocks.

Midtown Safe Code

In Chapter 10, upon entering Midtown, head over to the second shop on the right. There you’ll find a hidden safe in the top left corner of the room on top of some shelves. You won’t have to look too far for the code as it’s in the same room.

The translation reads “2458:edoC”. It should be obvious that this is backward and if read “Code: 8542” you’ll have your answer. Enter those four digits in the correct order, 8542, and you’ll open the safe. The reward for opening this code is a Cat Badge collectible.
