TI12 Hero Stats - Most & Least Popular Heroes at The International 12

TI12 Hero Stats – Most & Least Popular Heroes at The International 12

Let’s learn more about the most and least popular Dota 2 heroes at The International 12. Some results may surprise you.

Team Spirit won The International 12 and became the 2nd team alongside OG to lift the Aegis for the 2nd time. The team was on another level and crushed everyone else, and by the looks of it, it had the best understanding of the current meta. No longer Yatoro was voted as one of the best players at The International 12.

Of course, this was only possible because Team Spirit used some of the best Dota 2 heroes. So, let’s learn more about the most and least popular picks at The International 12.

TI12 Hero Stats – Top Picks

When it comes down to the statistics following The International 12, some heroes definitely impressed us more than others. So, let’s begin with the most popular picks before moving on to the rest.

Muerta

With a total of 56 appearances, Mueta becomes the most popular hero at The International 12. The hero appeared in almost 10 more games than the number 2 on the list, according to TI12 hero stats. This probably does not come as a surprise because she has been one of the best for some time now.

Muerta is very flexible, but judging from TI 12, most teams use her as a carry or support. She started her professional journey as a carry, but we can see that more and more of the top-tier players choose her as support. Her ability to farm fast and do damage even as a position 4-5 makes her a pretty solid pick in every situation. This is one of the reasons why Muerta has a 50% win rate.

Grimstroke

The second spot on the TI12 hero stats list for the most popular heroes is for Grimstroke. This is a support that did not appear at all before the big tournament. However, it seems like the Dota 2 changes prior to the big event made him a lot more popular than before.

If we take a look at The International 12 hero stats, we can see that Grimstroke finished with a 48% win rate out of 48 games. This is not that bad, considering the meta includes carries and midders that are extremely hard to play against.

Dark Willow

The third sport, when it comes down to the most popular picks at The International 12 with a total of 46 appearances, goes to Dark Willow. The latter has become one of the signature supports for a lot of teams, but we also had the chance to see a Dark Willow carry. Yes, you’ve read it correctly, LGD Gaming used a Dark Willow as a carry to surprise their opponents and shiro ripped through his opponents.

Dark Willow has close to a 57% win rate, meaning the hero is in a much better state than other supports right now. This even includes the likes of Treant Protector.

The International 12 Hero Stats – Least Popular Picks

After taking a look at the most popular Dota 2 heroes at TI12, it is time to do the same for the least popular ones.

Heroes That Did Not Appear Once

Even though we expected to see all heroes in action, TI12 hero stats reveal that some options did not get any picks. Now that the event is over, we can see that 11 heroes did not receive a single pick:

  • Anti-Mage
  • Drow Ranger
  • Abaddon
  • Mars
  • Meepo
  • Lion
  • Meepo
  • Shadow Shaman
  • Timbersawn
  • Slardar
  • Winter Wyvern

Considering that Team Spirit were among the big favorites, we expected to see at least AM and Drow because the squad is known for using them. However, these heroes did not get the chance to shine. We won’t be surprised if Valve decides to buff all of the options mentioned above and make them more popular.

Heroes with 1-5 appearances

Aside from the names mentioned earlier, TI12 hero stats reveal that there are tons of heroes that appeared in around 1 to 5 matches. There are several interesting examples here, such as Tinker, a hero that LGD Gaming used against Team Spirit in their second game. The idea of the pick was to surprise the Eastern European powerhouse, but things did not go as planned because the Chinese lost.
Ember Spirit is another hero that we expected to appear in a lot more matches than he did. However, he only showed up once and lost. The same applies to Void Spirit, but the latter played in 2 matches at TI12.

TI12 Hero Stats – Lowest Win Rate

Aside from the heroes that did not appear at all and those that only had the chance to shine in a few matches, there are multiple options whose win rate could have been more impressive. All options you are about to see have appeared in at least 10 games.

Keeper of the Light

The last sport, when it comes down to the least successful Dota 2 heroes, goes to Keeper of the Light. KotL played in a total of 15 matches and only has 26% win rate, which means 4 wins and 11 losses. He is a hero who can work in some situations, but he is not as good as others.

Shadow Demon

SD was actually one of the more popular picks at TI12 because he showed up in 32 matches. We expected to see him a lot alongside Luna, but the combo between the two was not as successful as some people expected. Shadow Demon only secured a 28% win rate wate with 9 wins and 23 losses.

Warlock

The final hero that also has around a 28% success rate is Warlock. Despite the buffs he received prior to TI12, players weren’t able to crack the code and use him to his full potential. Consequently, he became one of the heroes with the worst win rating.
